We are working currently working on reproducing the carbon fiber hood. My hood will be used as the prototype and the design will be very similar to the original vented hood. The group by is on the facebook group but if interested please contact me here and I'd be happy to help you.

What do you anticipate the cost of the hood to be.

The cost of the hood will remain the same as the original vented carbon fiber hood.
20 or Less buyers = $1299.

A prototype will be created to test quality and fitment. Once we are finished with our QC, we will collect deposits to produce the hood. Deposits will also be the same as the original group buy. We are currently at 11 people for the group buy with a few people waiting for the price come down before verbally committing.

We are committed to making this a reality and we hope that everyone is excited as we are about making this happen!

I personally drove over 12 hours to the Canadian border to pick my hood up and would do it again in a heart beat. I love these cars and its very unfortunate there is not more aftermarket support, but if we work together as community, we can make these things happen.

That is one opinion, the other is that they are flimsy and shake around at speed and need pins to hold them down at the front corners, this is tricky to do.
If you want to lose weight go on a diet and if you want vents then add them to the OEM hood.

Any reputable shop can install quality hood pins. Not a big at all nor is it costly.

Ahh your still always hating on everything ..
should always run pins with aftermarket hoods , especially racing. I never had issues with mine , and yea had 500+ Hp m113k tucked under it.

Agreed! Hood pins should always be ran with aftermarket hoods.

How can you fault what I said when you agree with the statement. If they need pins they should come equipped with the ability instead of the buyer having to drill and fit or get someone else to do the drilling snd fitting. Without the pins they flutter, this is well documented on this forum.

Without pins, carbon fiber hoods will "flutter".
All carbon fiber and fiber glass hoods should have some sort of hood pins installed.
No carbon fiber or fiber glass hood comes with them pre-installed, none that I know of or have seen. Anyone interested in a CF hood should keep this in mind.

This is not a major task and can be done for very cheap by any competent body shop. Now back to the group buy

I was going to do those, but cutting into the hood for that strange shape was a challenge. I used the mini style that are circular and they look and function great.

I will say, cutting into a brand new $1500 hood is not for the faint of heart. I would make sure a GOOD body shop took it on, I did it myself and it was extremely stressful, even with a buddy helping who does this for a living.

On the topic, hopefully they are of a higher quality than the first round. I ended up having to reinforce the connection point up near the cowl, wetsand and reclear the entire hood before it met my standards. After it was painted and cleared, it does look amazing, IMO.

Thanks Dave, yes, I believe I will always have the car. We recently bought a new home and I have room for 7-8 cars, so while I have a nice place to keep her, she has seen little use in the last few years since I repainted her.

Hope to see you and some of the others at some events in the future. I hope all is well.
