I tried adjusting the beams higher.....but then highs are too high....

Installing an HID kit may be your solution.

If the low beams are pointing toward the ground, but the high beams are where they should be, the low bulbs are installed incorrectly.

There is an alignment tab on the base of the H7 bulb which must be PERFECTLY inserted into its slot or...they point in the wrong direction!

Look in the Sticky section in this Forum.

Are the bulbs set in the holder OK, did you have them out or is this a new car to you. (edit)I see it is an old car to you so is this a new thing?

The word 'hardly' is not subjective enough really. It means different things to different people.

I checked the placement and the bulb is in there right....another question does it make a difference how the wires are connected to it? The plastic houseing is gone and I might have put them in differently?

I have this same problem, one of the headlight bulbs was installed upside down by the previous owner. I reinstalled it correctly and the headlights are aimed as high as they will go but the visibility is still sub par . The high beams are spectacular though .

Just remember, the high beam bulbs are 180 degrees out of round from the low beam bulbs. Just sayin'!

Tabs up on the highs and tabs down on the lows.

I know, guys. It's kinda simple considering there's only one notch for each socket . The low beams only project maybe 10 yards when they are at the highest adjustmet, the low beams in my tahoe project at least 3 times the distance and they have tons of oxidation on them. I'll try fidling with it again tonight but honestly nothing seems to help.

You may know these things but there are many posts where the bulbs have been installed incorrectly. It takes some people a while to see the light as it where. There are more posts on this subject than many other problems.

If the light only goes 10 yards then they are in wrong or there is something wrong with the headlamp unit. It is that simple.

The bulbs are tricky to fit, I have done it a few times and the last time I would have sworn up and down they were in correctly but one bulb slipped as I latched the spring and it was wrong.

I had the same situation. I could not drive safely at night, but the brights were great. I added the HID light kits as suggested, and it made a huge difference. Enough that I also changed the brights.

You can spend a few hundred dollars on the conversion kits, but mine and several others here were under $40 per pair.

Now I see the deer before I hit them.

Good luck.
