I agree with this statement.

Obviously this front part will be all clear or mostly all clear for the light, so the front will have the new LED lens flush to a plate that fits the opening or back behind and fully enclosed in a housing. The light should also be adjustable.
Is it possible to use the blank covers to be modified? Are they strong enough to can they carry the weight of the new light unit?
Ever notice how our actual "light" is recessed in the housing? As far as dirt ... it's a sealed unit so not an issue. I don't see adjustment unless you fabricate it in. These are not coming out as "plug and play mountable".. You could just as easily purchase a 2 1/2" or 2 3/4" diameter fog light off the shelf and achieve the same result .. you will have to fab the mounting to secure it. I personally think the OEM blanks modified would make a better look.. and I'm sure you would still have to fabricate a support bracket to go that route .

I think you have missed the point, no glass or whatever to fill that rectangular space in makes the hole a funnel for all the crud that comes at it.
I have no need to worry though as I have a brand new set of spares on the shelf.
I have an idea to fix the OEM lights with new rectangular lenses. If one of mine goes I'll make one.

I assumed "ruin" the light meant just that.. the light will survive. I also have a complete spare set.. along with a "fixable" broke mount one. So this is a non issue likewise for quite a while. I would almost think removing the gray "funnel" plate and inserting a round sealed unit and making a lexan plate to "replace" the OEM glass lens would be the route to go for a decent look if you don't want to shell out the bucks on a replacement. A lexan plate wont sit flush with the "funnel" still in place.

Would still like to see some pictures of some of these non-OEM fixes. Thanks.

Development is going along well for them units, which are actually made for GM use vehicle wise. We will see them in a few weeks stateside, as they designed them from the ground up. Don't worry, this is my project, I won't let it fall to the wayside. This wasn't going to be something that would be done in 2 days and shipped out. At least know that the lighting from the LED based units surpasses the stock ones in terms of beam width and intensity.

The funnel stays in my mod, I think that it may be hard to tell my modified one to an OEM one when mounted on the car.
I have also an idea to replace the lens on the fronts. That would be a real money saving idea.

Thank You for spearheading this.

Winter is coming.. might have to have a snow project.. It's not like I depend on fog lights for anything other than looks at worst case anyways.

I expect a reply from Matt, TRSs president, by Monday since he is at the SEMA auto show. He will let me know the date of purchase for the new fog lights. Price will be just about 200 for the pair, which is the cost of one regular oem unit.

Yup, so far things are going well for a mid to late december launch window for the new LED GM units that fit our housings. This is good news, and hopefully I can get some good pictures of them in action from Matt once finally officially out. I will keep everyone posted here of course, don't worry the project isn't going to be left to die. You're talking about me, an LED fanatic.

Hope all are having a good holiday season. Please be safe out there.

Just checking to see if there are any new updates. Been driving with a busted lens now for several months. Look forward to hearing more about availability. Thanks.

Matt mentioned December as the timeframe to look out for, so let me get in contact with him.

Alright ladies and gents, the units are done and ready to be bought at this point. Price is at a reasonable 170 for the pair of them. That's a far cry better than 200 per unit like the OEM models we usually find them at.

This works directly. Click.
Do you use some of the old broken light to fill in the old squarish hole?
That looks good.

Yeah you use the old housing as the base for the entire thing. The size fits just so in the factory bracket basically.

Ok is someone going to do a step by step with pics? The price is right (for me). I'm hoping it's a pretty simple task with very little to no mod/fab.

They are already at $170 bucks for the pair, with stellar LED units designed to last a long time, not sure about the group buy option but I can ask Matt if he wants to do it for us. KEEP IN MIND, these require a bit of fitment work to go into our stock housings, but not too much, so expect a bit of work lol.

I have output shots of the LED based units compared to a factory GM fog light that uses the same bulb as ours.
