Default LED bulb for map lights with a socket base

I sourced a product from Amazon (China) that does not have correct twist-lock dimension - its slot is too skinny to fit the carrier base plastic, so it isn't able to twist into lock position.
Anyone have a source that actually fits our Crossfire (2007). I've been lucky so far with the festoon-style glove box and trunk lights.

Any help is appreciated!

I assume this is for the interior dome lights? Is your socket broken? You can replace the bulb itself and re-use the socket.
If you're trying to replace with LEDs, I would stick with the original bulbs. I replaced mine with Leds and they never shut off. They go real dim, but I have to turn the switch off or they will stay lit.

It doesn't appear that the socket can be reused without some soldering to the new bulb/LED. It doesn't simply take a wedge-type 195 bulb replacement. Help?

Great solution.
Do these LED replacements trigger the bulb out inductor on the cluster?
if installed, could you share any images with them on?

The 194 is a wedge-type bulb. The Chinese solution i got was 2 pieces, a 194 bulb and twist socket base. It's the base that doesn't fit, it won't twist to look position. And I don't see how I can reuse the original socket base because it is a single integrated unit with the bulb, not a 2-piece configuration. Why do vendors only show festoon style? Did 2007 get a revised design to twist socket bulbs?

When I installed LEDs into my dome light, I reused the original blue sockets. I removed the original bulbs from the blue sockets. I had to bend the wire conductors on the LEDs to allow them to make contact.
But, as I said in my post above, the LEDs never go all the way out. I am going to replace them with the originals.
I'm including some pictures from a post I did. If you look at the 3rd picture, you can see the LEDs are in the original blue sockets.
Hopefully this was helpful.

If you go with LEDs you will need a bulb similar to this.

Nelson, do you use the existing blue socket, or did you have to use a different one or modify it?
Thanks,
John

I use the existing socket. I had to remove the overhead light assembly to get access to the bulb as you can see the diffusers are still there. The bulbs just slip right into the socket.

The Amazon LEDs I used are from WLJH, model T10-3030-2SMDTSW6. I tried to retrofit the Crossfire blue socket base to the LED as recommended, but a big fail. So, I was able to modify the supplied black base using a razor blade. The light, 200 lumens, seems right. And they turn off completely, no slight residual light as commented, although they can't mimic the smooth fade off effect of the incandescents. Not that they don't try! I'm good, thanks to your feedback and motivation.

I tried the Lasfit L-T10R bulbs, unfortunately they wouldn't fit into the original blues sockets. I have a 2006, maybe it's different than yours?
There are "fins" inside the bulb socket that prevent the center part from moving. Also the Lasfits were to thick to fit in the slots of my car's bulb sockets. I'll use them in the future for something else.
I ended up adding a piece of copper inside on each tab, so that they would make contact with another T-10 type LED. It works great and they fade like the regulars and go all the way off.
Thanks anyways, I appreciate the help.

I had the lightbulb warning come on last week and I tried pulling the lights out (C194, I believe). The left bulb came right out, but the right won’t budge without breaking it.Any thoughts? Also, I bought led bulbs from Amazon as replacements. Was that a mistake?

Are you removing just the bulbs or twisting the socket out of the dome light assembly?

Neither bulb wanted to pull straight out, but the driver side bulb pulled out with a bit of force. When it pulled out, the light blue part that it was plugged into went up automatically. Trying the same on the passenger side still wouldn’t release the bulb. My SIL also tried to pull it with no success.

My thought is to abandon the existing base and replace it with a festoon base. Search Ebay for festoon lamp bases. There are many. I found one 31mm (1.24") long with a 12V festoon LED lamp for $12.
