Default Yep, now I'm hooked...

Dag-gone it, Ya got me into another money-time sucking HOBBY !

I checked around and the combination of the 2.4 Gig radio and local parts availability convinced me to get a Blade CX II just like yours !

You are right, this is a real blast to fly. It's a little tricky but I'm getting my thumb-coodination together now and I don't break blades every time I fly anymore ! The things are the "Mustang GT" of electric helicopters. There are so many aftermarket hop-up parts it's just amazing.

Here's a really cool NO-COST mod to try now that you have some flight-time; pry out the little brass weights from the plastic cups at the end of the fly-bar. They are slotted and will just fall off the bar once poked out of the cups. You don't even have to take off the Fly-bar !

This reduced rotating weight is all good. throttle response greatly improves.
No more "overshoot" when you cut the throttle to avoid hitting the ceiling ! The controls become more responsive and movements are more controllable. It's like a Sprint Booster on your Crossfire gas pedal! Your flight times/battery life will improve and you will notice less altitude drop when you send large rudder inputs. It's all good !

You can pry the weights out with a paperclip ! Couldn't be easier !

I'm trying to trim weight so I have a carbon fiber rear boom on order along with a third battery and a set of "ultra-flex" skids. My original body is already getting pretty beat-up so I might as well upgrade. I'll switch to a more scale appearance body later once my flying skills are tuned-up.

I've got my eyes on a NOTAR (NoTailRotor) body like the Hamilton County Sherrifs Department flys! Scroll down to check out some of the available bodies...

too cool ... i'm glad you got one ... it took me about 2 weeks to master true pattern flight ... much easier to do outdoors in no wind (toward dusk hours)...

the upgraded skids are a must ... i went thru several replacements while learning to fly. the improve skids are unbreakable.

i also upgraded my gears (more durable) from this company ... and haven't damaged a set yet (during a crash).

other upgrades:

i love the looks of the sheriffs body ... i just wish i could buy it painted and ready to install.

these are some of the upgraded parts i have on my heli ...

i tried their carbon fiber bar with weights (not recommend) ... i removed it... it made it way too hard to control.

the end result... once getting it out of the tree.

its time for a new body and replacement blade or two ... no internal damage ... i'll be back up & flying tomorrow.

Default Name...

I think I figured out why they call this thing a BLADE CX !

I'll be off to the RC hobby shop today for my regular fix of more replacement BLADES...

I've lost count already how many I've replaced.

Really Coool, I build and fly giant scale planes. I currently have an 80 inch CAP 232. I tried Heli's once and decided when I can fly two RC planes in the air at the same time I would be ready for the helicopter. That day still hasn't come.

Doin' pretty good. Got some super flex landing skids, a carbon fiber tail boom and a couple of upgraded batteries. I've gotten to the point where I don't break blades everytime I fly now. I work at the Ball Park and there is a circular service tunnel underneath all the way around the place. It's 5/8th mile around, 25' high by about 30' wide. I've been practicing after work. I fly around with me walking behind the chopper. One battery will allow me a complete circuit of the tunnel w/10-15 minute continuous flight time. It's really good practice with just enough drafts and occasional crosswinds from ramps and doorways to keep me on my toes. The boom tail greatly reduces the cross-section and allows me to fight wind gusts better. I've also removed the brass weights from the plastic cups at the ends of the fly-bar. This reduces rotating mass for better throttle control. Since this is a fixed-pitch chopper, motor speed controls altitude so a more responsive throttle helps avoid "overshooting" ceiling strikes. The original body's nose is pretty much beat to h*ll by now. All cracked plastic electrical tape. I'll probably buy a replacement body sometime next week.

There are seemingly endless upgrades for this Blade CX heli. Kinda like owning a Mustang GT.

I'm pretty happy with how mine runs so for now so I'll just concentrate on developing some piloting skills !

Hey LantanaTX,

Take the plunge ! You can get a CoCo Lama ready to fly for less than a hundred bucks. These co-axial choppers are really quite stable and easy to fly. If you have flown 4-6 channel RC planes I'm sure you could handle it. It's nice to be able to fly indoors or out regardless of the weather !

Just buy some spare blades and batteries...

Cheers,
Slim

Andrrew/All.

Unfortunatly I can't remember the name of the video I found on Utube... There are a couple R/C Heli demonstrations by some expert flyers for a particular model. They do some incredible controlled flying. Reminds me of a bumble bee flying... very precision, all axis of movement... impossible feats with a real full sized heli.

I started to get into it 15 years ago with a gas engine... just never followed through. Bought the stuff and never did much with it. Sigh. But now with $200 starter kits... hmm...

Anywhoo... look on Utube for r/c helicopters and you will find what I was talking about... You WILL know it when you see it...

Holy Cow !

You're really stepping up now bro.

That things got like a set of 30 inch wooden main blades !

That's like a remote controlled flying lawn mower...look out !!!

Will it still fit into your Crossfire ?

Good News Guys! I am a new member with a brand spankin new '05 SRT with 32 miles...smokin deal; but I happen to own an electric RC wholesale company with all of this stuff. Although we don't sell to the public, I can arrange to get you some great deals through your local hobby shop. The name of our company is Empire Hobby. So if you have any questions, I bet I can help.

The Blade CX2 is a great machine, get the aluminum head upgrade and a bunch of extra blades! My son flys circles around me...little s@#t!

Wow, very cool...

Is the Spectrum DX6 2.4 GHz radio the one included by E-Flite ?

If so, man, that's a good deal ! That's a pretty d*mn nice radio.

It's got enough memory and programming features to allow it to be used on any other helis/planes you might get in the future.

I've got the CNC swash plate and rotor upgrades on my Blade CXII now. control is a LOT MORE PRECISE ! I can fly down halls, through doorways and land on the kitchen table when I feel like showing off for company...

I'm going to give myself plenty of practice time in some of the larger indoor spaces I have access to during the winter months. Once warm weather returns I'll upgrade to something bigger/more powerful for outdoor flying...

I've seen some of the on-board camera videos and they are just too cool !
Just make sure the camera's transmitter isn't going to cause problems with the heli's receiver before you get too much altitude !

Cheers,

Slim
