Who has out run the cops?

I am sorry you have negative feelings toward law enforcement officers, many do, but one of the things this job has taught me is not to judge anything until I have as many facts as possible. The situations you described are all plausible.
I can tell you as far as the issuance of any ticket or warrant I have done, I have done with a clean conscience. You sound as if cops created the laws we enforce and we just sit around thinking new ones up. Your lawmakers created the law and you are obliged to follow them. If you choose not to follow them that is on you, not me for enforcing the laws. The fact that people get tickets is not the fault of law enforcement. The ticket is for breaking a law passed by our lawmakers. If you don't like the ticket, your lawmakers have also created a court system for you to air your side of the story. People will always have "cop issues" try riding with one for a while before you judge.
As far as the speeding issue in my personal car, I feel I drive as safely as most and if I am issued a ticket I will take resposibility for my actions and not blame the cop who issued it.
Also I have no idea what you do for a living but I am sure there is a derogatory name for it. I wonder if you like it being used?
I am thankful we have a forum to air these issues and perhaps we can learn from each other.

Perhaps I should have clarified my position sooner.
If it was my intent to disrespect you I could have chosen much stronger words than an occifer. I will not give you more respect because you are a law enforcer.
I was pulled over last year on New years eve at a check stop. I hadnt been drinking.I told him with a smile "I avnt ad a bit to drink all night occifer I'm the d, d, d,d, designated driver"...He laughed, and sent us on our way.
Because something is made a law doesnt mean its right....There are some very strong moral issues surrounding this topic... One would question the validity of a law that supports taking a human life by changing the definition of a human life.
There are many Tax laws that steal our money. I refer to Revenue Canada as the Legalized crime division of Canada.
You as an Law officer have the discresion to issue or reduce a ticket; just ask a good looking blonde if no-one believes thats true.
I think they called me an "Arms dealer" which i think is quite clever.

I'll add another example for clarity: interpret Who likes Cops? ..posted by Jaded Now interpret Who likes cops? Posted by a cop
Depending on your pre-conceaved attitude it can have two different interpretations..

Jaded....Can't say I didn't warn Ya!
I know of at least 4 members who are in law enforcement in one way or another, all of whom are regulars to this very forum.
Jaded,
It seems this thread has boiled down to babble.
Time to jump of this dead horse and back into my Crossfire. Oh yea, cops shouldn't have sports cars. Oh well, drive safely and have a nice day.

WOW ! As some of you know, I'm in law enforcment. In TN. it is a felony to run from the police in a motor vehicle. Why would you want to go from a misd. ticket to a felony ?? Let alone the fact that you endanger the safety of the public. Anyone who runs in a motor vehicle should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If the driminal is dealt with harshly, then these senseless pursuits would stop. On a side note, I personally think that the fact that some police departments will not allow officers to pursue fleeing suspects creates more crime that it prevents because the criminals know that if just refuse to stop they are "home free" so to speak. In my opinion, someone who flees in a motor vehicle should have a trip to the hospital before they go to jail.
I have a buddy in Seattle who received a felony charge for fleeing Police on a crotch rocket on I-5
He wasnt able to cross the border into Canada with that charge.
That or it was an excuse to make me drive...

I used to back when I was young and stupid. Now I'm older.
Some years back I was heading down a straight smooth 2 laner with no entrances, exits or traffic, so I turned the dogs loose (Mustang GT). Sure enough, up ahead I saw a cruiser hidden in the weeds shooting speeders. He had me dead to rights and was starting to pull up out of the weeds to give chase. I just shut it down and pulled in beside him and said "I bet you want to talk to me". He had me 60+ over on the speed gun. He only wrote me up for 15. Saved me big points, money and an insurance hit. We pay them to protect us from the idiots. We just hate it when the idiots are us.

Back in my late teens , I outran the city police (won't mention what city) , in a 1978 Pontiac bonneville with a crappy 301 in it...lol , I knew where an old rail road used to run across a back road (can't see it if you're not looking ecspecailly @ night) when I got there I took the car down the railroad bed (ties no longer there , just gravel) followed the railroad bed most of the way back home. Ahhh , the dumb old days!! lol
I've ducked away once or twice. Never more than a distance of a few hundred yards though, you could hardly call it running. I was riding passenger one time when we were saved by one of those universal garage door things that's supposed to open ALL garage doors. LOL, just hid in some stranger's garage for a few minutes. The only time I guess you could say I "outran" an OFFICER I was on an old 2 laner out in the country that had not a single entrance, exit, dirt road, bike trail or anything. Was doing 150 and a trooper came up over a hill right as I reached it's base. He hit the lights for just a second like he was going to give chase and then promptly turned them off and kept on going. I don't know what happened, I like to think he realized I picked that road to run on beacause it didn't endanger anyone but me and decided to let it be... only he knows I guess. That of course was maybe 2 or 3 weeks after I bought it. I'm too afraid to do that anymore, they all know the car and where I live. There's 2 SSBs in this town and mine is the "one with the round exhaust"(officer friend of mine commenting on my place among the car heirarchy in the "squad")
Repeatedly.......
Late 80's Yamaha FJ1200 with Koenig 1498cc Motor....never ever stopped for anyone or anything....and never caught! And never lost!
1984 SVO Mustang with all the turbo goodies and NOS....Yes I was doing it in the 80's. And was finally caught....boy was that bad!
Switched to boats after that....very little policing on the water and NO speed limit!

In the late 50's In Winnipeg I passed a cop car that was chasing another car, I got pulled over and told the officer I passed him to get out of the way in case there was an accident. Ticket was $50.00
I have, many times. Just get your local drag strip or race track to hold an event and get the local law to come play. Its fun and LEGAL ! I always give some of the local officers a hard time because I have yet to lose a race to them. But the other hard part, if I ever do anything dumb around town, they know who I am, and there isn't lying about it was another crossfire. lol I will agree with another post here, and that is, if you see him, and he is either turning on his lights, or just turning around, just pull over before he has to pull you over. Its much easier, and respectful
Several years ago, on NB I-75 north of Grayling, Michigan heading up skiing in the '03 Jetta turbo I had then. It was dusk and I was rolling 90, anxious to get the party started. Came up over a hill, running at the front of a pack and the detector went wild and he had me dead nuts. I don't know what came over me but I figured it would take him a few to be able to pull out in traffic, and get ramped up to speed, and I knew there was an exit about a mile ahead. I pegged it, hit the exit, went down the road about 100 yards, did a handbrake bat turn as he came roaring off the interstate. Lights blazing he tore towards me and continued to blast done the road in the opposite direction. I gently got back on I-75 and blended into traffic. It scared the devil out of me, and to this day I have no idea why I did that or even how I got out of it but I have never done that again.
