I would make this suggestion, especially to the younger viewers, go by the police station, and see if they will allow you to do a "ride along"...some dept's allow this...it is interesting to most civilians...and in fact, the civilians I have had ride with me, would have been even more strict than me on some of my stops...anyway...just an idea...

Its all about respect. Some of us think that it is earned and others think it is some kind of Constitutional right. Unless given a reason to the contrary, the badge should command respect, simply because of what it represents.

Most patroling officers do so alone now, using technology and communications to back them up. Still, on the scene, they are alone.
Armed with a weapon they can't use most of the time, and their wits, they must be on top of the situation into which they have a sworn duty to go. Given that, you can't fault them when their demeanor is to insist upon being the top dog at every meeting with the public. They must be the alpha, in control and present themselves as the toughest SOB in the valley.
Or they could likely die.
It is hard to be a kind, gentle Ben type, when presented with these odds. A disrespectul public doesn't improve a policemans demeanor.
I'm not preaching here, you all know this already.
How many people remember, right after 9/11? The police were all heroes and for about two days we treated them with the honor and respect they deserve. Hell, we treated each other better for a while. Why is today any different?
Hmmmmm....

no, it is the construction on that side of town, I only worked Hamilton Co....lol.....I loved the kid with the video camera...here he is cussing his head off, holding a video camera in one hand, while driving a 100 mph and everyone is praising him for pulling a cop over...this is our new world order...Deputy Campbell, blow the carbon out on more quiet stretch of road next time...and I would radar the **** out of that stretch of road and every citation I wrote, I would give this kid the credit...

I never open my mouth or get disrespectful but I just couldn't bite my tongue on this one. I told him he was full of **** and he either is a liar or doesn't know how to use his radar gun. He said if I say one more word we can go... I said go where? He got quiet like he realized he shouldn't have said that and I told him to shut up and go write me a ticket. I was surprised but he didn't say a word, just turned around and wrote the ticket and gave it to me. I would have loved to get out of the car and beat the brakes off that punk a$$ pig.

I will just make one more observation before I use the ignore feature on this forum...30 yrs in law enforcement, I have met many toughguys, but not one of them, some really bad @ss biker dudes, would ever have to use it as their sig...they were what they were, no need to advertise, but still showed some respect...I can show respect to those who truely are toughguys, they chose their road, and that's fine, but even they have some respect for people doing their job...having reviewed your posts, I am not sure what you are doing here...this is a simple car forum, we argue about cars, or some cases about politics...what could a tough guy find interesting on here? Other than cause ****....which most toughguys enjoy doing...anyway, you all sort it out. I prefer the ignore feature, it works so well....maybe I could suggest MondayNight Raw....I think the WWF has a nifty website, and a forum...good luck with your career choice, I'm sure the Atlanta Police Dept is pleased....

While your post WAS excellent (as usual) one thing:
He is here to make outrageous statements like his last one. He wants to generate responses so the thread can be about him.
What I wonder (not that it matters) is, are we responding in the way he desires? Is he getting what he wants?
Again, not that it matters.

HAAA!!!!!
Thats great, you smile when a cop dies huh. I would like to shed some light on my, a simple cop of 14 years, feelings of this. I consider myself one of the lucky cops as I work for the federal government and make more than many in my state. Ole doc, 911, myself, and others spend countless hours away from our families so that others can live safely. We work nights for months on end opposite the sleep schedule of our family. We put our life on the line so when your mother is being raped and your dad is being beaten they have somebody that will come and help them when all the others run away, all for under 40k a year. Some in this state start at 8 bucks an hour. Why do we do this you wonder?? Power you say? You need a constitutional law lesson sir. You, the everyday citizen, has more power to wield in this great land than I the cop. I need probable cause and reasonable suspicion, you need less than I to make an arrest. Remember you too have that right. Now as it comes to a cop being killed in the line of duty ask Deputy Brian S. Etheridge's family what they think of your thoughts. He was murdered protecting his community responding to a larceny call on Sept 28, 2009. He will never have the chance to live life to its fullest all to protect and serve his community. To your previous statements I challenge you sir. There are good and bad cops, many grow cynical to the public from years of time on the job. My challenge to you is before you come in a bad mouth us, put on a vest and a badge, strap your gun on and show us what a good cop should be. Go through the joys of lie detector tests and background exams. Come and show us how much intestinal fortitude you've really got. Time to man up now. RIP Officer Etheridge, my prayers are with you and your family. End of Watch 9-28-2009

As for Tough guy, in my line of work, I deal with short weiners with something to prove all the time. He has graciously offered to explain things to me in a personal way. I'm 62 but always up for a party.
He may test his asssumptions, at his conveinence.

Very wise words mac92a2002, and please pass along our thoughts and prayers to the Etheridge family. I cannot remember the last time I have been so enraged by such a flippant comment as the one made by toughguy25. I proudly served my country in desert shield/desert storm, and saw things that nobody should ever have to see. I am still affected today by the things that I did in the service of my country, and the death and carnage that I witnessed. I have seen mush that used to be a body.... I have seen pieces of bodies strewn across wide areas.... I have seen the frozen gaze in dead mens eyes as they lie in the battle field. I served my country, just as the fine men and women in the police forces do on a daily basis. For anyone to wish death upon another person is inexcusable and should not be tolerated in our society.
Toughguy25, let me tell you.... You are a piece of sheit and a disgrace to your fellow man. I would bet that you have a tiny little diick. Why else would you come up with a sig. to brag about being tough. I have known many a tough man in my day, and not one of them felt a need to advertise the fact.

Sorry about the ticket and the bad experience with the state trooper.
I'm glad you didn't end up with a second ticket.
You should really get yourself a Valentine V1.
