You are correct again, it is less than .05% of the worlds population (6,775,235,700), its around .000037%. That's assuming that 10 times as many people know of the site (250,000) than are actually members (25,000).

The things you learn here are absolutely amazing aren't they? You could go onto the .net site and learn nothing like this in a million years.

I saw the number and had to do the maths. LOL

Oh that's right, you kinda have to.

In general, you were a respectable poster Radmanly. I will miss your well articulated and researched viewpoints. But here your words ring hollow.

To the positives...

I am sad for us all that a venue for shared ideas has been snuffed out as unimportant.
The political section was only divisive to those who refused to read it with an open mind, and failed to see the merit of objective postings from different viewpoints.

To Julian...

Once we begin to curtail open discussion of ideas, whether political, ethical or societal, we are all damaged.

You are making a run-of-the-mill sandwich sound like a gourmet meal, Femella. I belong to the Jeep Forum and have for years. It's probably one of the most vibrant, comprehensive and postive/productive automobile owner's forum online today.

And, yes, Jeep owners are reknowned for their passion for their vehicles, so talking about mundane subjects like LED's and trouble code-questions from a newby is part of the expected environment.

Guess what? There's no such thing as "political" page on the Jeep Forum, nor will there be. We know "Politics" are out there in a billion forms and for the most part, we're all sick to death of it. We love our Jeeps, not politics.

There was no exchange or 'open discussion of ideas here,' Femella, just barbs being traded back and forth. The only shared ideas were the support and commitment the conservatives had for each other.

This notion that "a couple" of uninvested, disinterested, liberal interlopers somehow took down the mighty "politics" page is just ridiculous. For every one, there are 10 who agree and watch silently.

Like Spudracer, and I have to believe, Radmanly, I never once PM'd a mod here, regardless of how nasty things got. If a mod would come forward and attest to that fact, and I think the dead-Politics page mod has done that now, it would be plain to see that the people who actually caused the demise of that page were the very people claiming it as their personal, partisan and spiritual territory. They ran to the "nanny" too many times.

Ironic, isn't it?

I do, regularly. I just don't post there very often. Lately, I've been searching for solutions to the "the top won't go down, it just beeps" problem. I've tinkered with it a little but I fear a trip to the dealer may be in my future. Despite that, I apparently missed some hullabaloo about vajayjays.

The politics forum was like having unprotected sex behind dumpsters with crack hos. It may feel good but it's ultimately bad for you.

May I suggest you all who support the political section and want to see it online here....
Send Julian mightyjlr PM's indicating to him those who you feel should be banned if the political forum still existed.
I'm sure the history of the sub forum has not been erased but has only been hidden from our view here.

Maybe it will be back maybe not.

Note:
I WILL NOT be a moderator over it or accountable for any of the feuds or fires that start there and will not act on any PM's to BAN individuals, settle disputes or investigate accusations about each other.

Also note:
I never asked to be a moderator on this website.
I worked with Julian years ago to create the sub-forum "Crossfire Meets" where an index could be made for quick reference to all the events going on around the country. As I became involved setting up some of these events I thought it would be a useful quick glance sub-forum with links to the actual live open threads that organized the individual meets.

As a result he set my user options up as a moderator but over the entire forum not just the "Regional Forums"
I notified him of this but he left my settings the same as moderator over the entire site with some restrictions that only he has control over as the site owner.
I felt privileged to be trusted with this responsibility and therefore it just sort of put me in the roll.

PS ...when corresponding wit Julian of FB the other night while this site was down I got this final response from him.

Quote:
Should be all fixed.
Gallery should be back to normal soon.
I was able to free up some memory on the server.
Politics forum is shut down for now as well.

Well, you should know...apparently, you spent a higher percentage of your posting time behind the dumpster than anyone here.

I guess this would be considered a personal attack? But, is it political?

I don't know about that. Other posters were far more active in the politics section than me.

I have made my case to MightyJR. Just a small voice in a big sea.
May we suggest you simply forward the Emals and PM's you have received over this to Julian.

As I read his note to you, thePolitics Forum is shut down "for now"

What does that mean?
Is it deleted or can it still be accessed?

So now you'll have to find a new back alley in which to indulge the political vices.

Possibly if you view the stats that way. But, I said "percentage."

Although you had your fair share of postings too, the vast majority of your postings, like mine, we're right there in the good old Poli section.

BTW, because he didn't post much, I forgot to mention him, and how much I learned from Rob M. Thanks so much for all that info, Rob.

Some people just hate to see others having fun. How about just ban those that have said they do not want a political forum, yet keep posting there anyway. If they do not have the willpower and can't stay away on their own, help them out. Just saying...

The way you monitor my activity on this site is rather stalker-ish.

I just have to say. It never fails to amaze me how many of you engaged in, even started much of what led us here. Yet still talk like it is only your opposition that were hateful, threatening, and just downright rude. I'm sure FP and Valkryderguy are both shaking their heads in amazement that you can't see your part in all of this.

When I first started venturing into this site I was saddened to see it had a political section. For a month or so I refused to open a thread in the political section fearing the worst. When I finally weakened and came in, I was not surprised, In fact it was far worse than I suspected. I finally had my fill of the one sided rhetoric and started to reply. I was quickly cornered and subjected to venom I haven't witnessed in bar fights. And I gave what I got. And gave them extra to remind them that all Liberals aren't shrinking violets. As time has passed I realized that they felt that anything they said too, or about me was justified, ergo, not an attack. Just the truth. I felt duty bound to stay and soldier on till an event happened while in route to deliver a load, and several very personal threats changed my desire to battle on. I have on occasion came back when things have gotten out of hand and I rerouted their fire on to me. Or when I saw they needed a reminder that they aren't the masters of the universe they purport themselves to be. Or when their circular back slapping (to put it nicely) became insufferable.

I watched as all of you piled on Radmanly and just plain did everything you could think of to torment, vilify, and berate him. Again using every tool you possessed. All the while he remained cool and collected. . It was never enough for you to just disagree. You flat attacked him from every angle. Yet you will never admit to your actions.

Needless to say. I will not miss this section. Nor do I believe you could ever find anyone to mediate it fairly. It far to devisive in a forum where we should find unity. It is dead, as it should be...
