Recall all the media hype in the spring about gas being $5 a gallon by July 4? One week to go and its the cheapest I have seen in a long time...

It's because of Obama's policies - he set his sights on conservation, and now we are all using less oil. It's all about supply and demand!

Regular grade is $5.45 per Imperial gallon here or about $4.75 per US gallon. Premium grade is .40-.50 cents more per gallon. Sure glad prices have dropped!

Whadda' ya' mean "We"? I don't think I know a single soul that has changed his habits from 2 years ago.
What "policies"? Do you mean the ones against the US of A producing (drilling for) our own oil?

Do you mean pushing the CAFE limits down? By 2016?

Are those the policies to which you refer?

His "sights" (a little martial for him, don't you think?) are set firmly on re-election.

Period.

My intention here was NOT to make this political, so lets keep it that way. My intention was about the media and all their hype & sensationalism to make a story. With prices going down, they don't have alot to alarm the general public about.

Let's see, James. What happened was the media got it wrong, like they usually do. And, it is political. If you think, guys like me, who have cancelled all their vacation plans, not taking a trip, not booking hotel rooms, not spending money at restaurants, and yes, not buying gasoline a good thing for the economy, then yes, your socialist leader has succeeded. Democrats are the new zombies, walking around in a daze...give me a break...

Kool Aid-induced, I might add.

And, Doc'? You hit it right on the head. I had "one of them" actually state that there was "no way" Obama is pandering to the Latino vote. This was 2 days before his "humanitarian" gesture to, by Executive Order, pardon yet another segment of illegals.

I didn't even have to say "I told you so" to this particular Zombie-he wouldn't even look me in the eyes the next time I saw him.

Sucker...

And, James: I apologize. You are correct, and I'm a bad person for doing this.

I really try not to pay attention to the political BS (nobody wants the office to actually make a difference for the better of the Nation .. ).. but at one point I had heard about tapping into the federal oil reserves.. did that come about to "stabilize oil prices"..?

Someone forgot to tell Colorado that prices are dropping. Premium is still $3.75-$3.80/gallon. Go to Kansas or Oklahoma and the price instantly drops 50-60 cents/gallon.

James

I seem to remember being told that the primary prophet of doom here had predicted the Bush price rise AND fall.

He then predicted $5 by summer with only a moderate fall by Christmas to something like $4.

Moral of the story: The media is as it always is: Worthless. They had their fun with the "Chicken Little Gas Price Forecast", but they were wrong and OOOPPSSS, someone remembers!

How DARE you REMEMBER, James?

It's still about supply and demand - when the demand goes down, the price goes down. Suddenly because of "Cash for Klunkers" we have millions of more fuel efficient cars on the road. Also, the federal mandate for higher mileage vehicles is already changing people's perspectives. You can get the same horsepower out of a four cylinder car that you could get out of a six cylinder car and use less gasoline. I apologize for saying that it's Obama's policies that are lowering gas prices - even though it's the TRUTH! I think alot of Conservatives are really upset right now - and they are lashing out.

Global oil consumption.. but I guess OPEC could be giving us an "atta boy" price break.. we are listed as 2 million barrels per day less than the last few years.

Numbers reflect thousand barrels per day.

Sorry, but your theory has nothing to do with the price of oil:

Cash for Klunkers.. how'd that work.. an attempt to stimulate the economy with new cars sales that would then boost production .. car manufacturers didn't really need a boost did they.. and lets just go a little further with that.. Couldn't you say we who pay taxes are the ones who paid others to trade in their POS and get a new car.. hmm.. sounding more like a welfare ticket now doesn't it. But its all good.. we'll just add that tab to the pay later agenda. China forecloses we'll all be learning a new language.
