That day still haunts Leana.
We had quite a talk about those days, she left Ukraine in 1990 under Gorby's "glasnost" program.

She is still bitter about Chernobyl, because, as she puts it, "The Ukrainian people were used by the Russians as a "breadbasket"; they exploited us for our natural resources, then they put their unsafe reactor in OUR 'state' and didn't operate it safely, then they had not the decency to tell the world what happened until nuke plants in other countries detected it..."

Tragic indeed.

I see political comment here. Be careful.

I don't agree with how you quote text.

If we're honest with ourselves, you have politically-related material in your signature. Soldiers end up being the chess pieces of politicians, and the valiant US/Canadian soldiers used guns to conquer bad guys with guns.... As a result, you read in English

Everyone be careful!! It would be both ironic and tragic to have a post censored in a thread lamenting excessive censorship.

Mum's the word, that's the lesson. Just whistle and move along, you neither agree nor disagree with me or yourself. That creates conflict, and conflict is baaaad.

Winston,

I cannot believe some people are still complaining about not being able to use a car owner's forum I've helped sponsor before to vent their partisan political gases. Let me testify that many of us got even sicker-to-death of political news and comments and opinions just this past year. It's like drinking lye.

Anyone with the conviction of their own words can go create their very own Crossfire political web page, host it, manage it and decide who to delete and who to let remain, yourselves. It's a free country; go explore your electronic liberties and options, please.

Winston,

It's hard to believe some people are still complaining about not being able to use a car owner's forum I've helped sponsor before to vent their partisan political gases. Let me testify that many of us got even sicker-to-death of political news and comments and opinions just this past year. It's like drinking lye.

Or run for office and share your wisdom with the entire world, not just Crossfire owners who don't necessarliy want to hear it or see it on their forum.

Billie, i'm not complaining. Read the posts. It is the censoship of which I have complained. As for changiing my sig, no one asked me to do it, But it seemed to bother a poster, Winstonscifi, here,,,so I did

Of course, some might suggest what I subsequently posted was somehow political. Anything these days can be considered political. As JHM2K pointed out, even the complaining poster had "political" content in his sig.

Those who most complained seem to be the ones who most go over the line. My recent posts, have been to ask them not to. Just like back in the old days when they did exactly the same thing.
And then b!tch that it happened.

Truth is no one wants the politics section back.

Ya'll need to get over it.

I wasn't really directing that to you, Frank. There were others bemoaning the lack of 'respect' for the time they put in trying to fashion their posts, in code, so they wouldn't get deleted. And the avatar-statement? Secret handskakes to just attempt being heard about non-auto subjects?

Take up a hobby, like working on your car Join a car owner's web site and communicate cool things about the cars you all share. I came here this morning to check on tips for removing water droplets from inside my passenger side headlight assembly AFTER I installed the updated rubber boot parts and thought I had dried it out.

Carry on!

I was being sarcastic.
I guess sarcastic comments should use the appropriate emoticon. ()

I'd better edit the comment for the future readers.

Perhaps the greatest problem plaguing the internet is the absence of a sarcasm font.

How many keyboard wars would be avoided if we had such a tool?

Secret Code?
My God, the fanatical conspiracy thingy raises it's head.

My avatar statement was changed 18 months ago at the request of the mods who complained it was too long. The new one was done post the political Forum demise but when emotions were still smarting from the shutdown. I asked and they did not reject it.
I changed it again last week to accomodate Winston.

Again my objection is to the unfairly executed censorship, even of my posts asking the folks to stop teasing the political ban line. But not the posts of others who had crossed that line.

BTW, I own seven cars and two trucks. Most are older than my 2 crossies so, I work on them......... a lot.
I, like many, don't need that hobby.

Fwank! Fwank! Fwank! I'm not talking about you, again! You keep attempting to mock me with your little animated toys and words and explaining your personal experiences here, but I wasn't even addressing you, factually, until you replied to my original post to Winston.

And honestly, my comments to Winston weren't about you, either. I had three other members on my mind when I replied to him and you weren't one of them, sorry.

My newest hobby is a 2013 Black Grand Cherokee Laredo X with 20" factory spoke wheels, full black leather interior and a 5.7 L Hemi under the hood. Built by Italians, as I understand it and the interior looks like it! If I didn't know better, I'd say they built the engine, too, as it sounds like a 16-cylineder Ferrari idling in the driveway, lots and lots of cams, valves, gears spinning and clattering away, heck, it even has 16 spark plugs! Hobby? It will be a half-day job! My wife has the Crossfire and I give her rides to work in snowstorms now!

Perhaps one should just have the ***** to be "frank" enough to come out and say who they are actually talking about?

Just a thought.

If memory serves correctly, I recall you being one of the most vehement and "crude" posters in the political forum, all while complaining about its existence. I'd verify that with a search, but we can't search removed forums.

Surprise surprise, it's a politically related thread that woke you out of your posting coma. You made "condensation" your scapegoat, but "condescension" was the fruit of your keyboard.

Franc is 100% correct. The removal of the political forum caused some of the nastiest posters to disappear, while the true enthusiasts stuck around and continued to contribute.

I prefer an absence of outlet if it means an absence of certain people's posts. We're much happier discussing air filters and tacky eBay finds.

Carry on...

No mocking involved. Lighten up. This is supposed to be fun here. Or do you like peeing on a flat rock?

My current "hobby is a 1973case dozer with a compound blade and a Davis backhoe. It's digging a two foot trench 160 feet long so my barn, which is under construction, can have electric power. Next it tackles the foundation for the new house. And a road to the spring site. Hooby enough for me.

I enjoy "politics" on another thread where guys who post like you, get kicked off for being disruptive.

I've been there well over a year and have yet to even be warned. So,,,it ain't me.

And John, thanks for the back up here. This is the crap that started the crap, so the Mods were handed a crap excuse to close that Forum.

I miss the conscious repect of Radmanly. Irritatingly stubborn, but at least respectful discusions.

OK,I'm off my soap box and done.

I won't even glorify your insults with a reply to them. Why don't you contact me privately, John, and we can explore this together? I'd love to communicate with you, particularly, over these comments you're making today. Private message me, give me your private email address and I will do the same and we can keep it off this board. That seems like the adult thing to do, right?
