Phil , I read the beginning & last post of this ---------Just what is the subject ??
All oils will eventually collect carbon from piston/ring blow by , valve actuation , etc , thereby degrading their lubricity , I don't care what the analysis's try to spew .
Some will try to convince that various crankcase ventilation systems reburn these carbons -- true , but not all of it .
An easy way to tell if your engine is running efficiently & clean is to look at the inner tail pipe color ---- very light brown is good , darker to black --- not good .

FYI , Don't use synthetic base oils to mix w/ gas for 2 strokes & then store the motor , the internal residue will eventually produce moisture & ruin it .
That's my story .

an interesting comparison of several brands
i already had this released before somewhere else, but is fit to bring it here:
at least this is made of gas. and they claim that is better this way.
there is a test that shows some interesting data: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...g-results.html
here they do 5 different tests comparing pennzoil ultra vs mobil 1
on the 1st 1 they test for scar (the smaller is better) pennzoil: 0.45, mobil: 1.6
2nd (TBN)-the higher the better: pen: 0.95, mobil: 0.95 both the same;
3-crank-the lower the better: pen:3900, mobil;: 3900= both the same;
4-TEOST (oxid)-the lower the better: pen: 0.9; mobil: 2.5
5-NOACK (volat)- the lower the better: pen:7.1; mobil: 8.5

This site has been mentioned on here a zillion times, so it is news to hardly anybody.
Why not study tire compounds? Let’s give the oil subject a rest.

for those who still dont get it, my efforts and data are dedicated to those who, like me, are not experts, and are in need of help to solve problems, or just to add knowledge of the so many details that otherwise we could never learn about this fantastic car. and i can see, for the so many visits-and not participations-to all these threads, that many just come to learn and dont want to get exposed to the negative and destructive critics that dont provide any help. and doesnt matter if has been talked about before many times. for us newbies, any subject is new, and deserve the respect from experts.

Trawling the internet for subjects can be done by anybody, maybe people here want to know what oils they can get here not in Berlin, Timbuktu or Moscow. Lets have some constructive posts not just rambling thoughts less than five minutes apart, edit you post from five minutes ago rather than add another that will be much more appreciated.

Phil , in the interest of this site & its members , if a question is as broad as "oil" , the inquiry should be preceded by doing a search --- that's one reason the option is there so as to use info already here .

But again, I am one who is not happy with the forum's search function. I find it more productive to use google and search THIS forum with GOOGLE.

It takes some experience to know what terms to use. Like if I want to find the thread about the fact our amplifier is really a four channel amp, I google: "Chrysler Crossfire amplifier is four channels"
Google gives me:

My FIRST response from Google gives me what I want.

If I put that in our search, I don't even get the thread I am looking for - which I KNOW is here, I get:

This is why I don't get upset at people for not searching - if they use OUR search, they may never find what they are looking for.
And if we just tell people to "search first", we come across as asses.

That is why I tell people to search, but to USE GOOGLE and to put in "Chrysler Crossfire" as your first two terms, then add terms to specify what you are looking for.

there is a study about oil that i heard of somewhere at the other thread, that i think has to be of great interest for all to read. it is in post 4 of this thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...g-results.html it is absolutely beyond the wildest dream. the only problem i see is the length. is like if you have the bible printed in a roll without pages or index non stop. but also there is a way to google it. it is explained at the beginning. i found especially interesting near the end, section 6, chapters 30, 45, and 50. and the guy that published it brings data that you wouldnt find anywhere else. he did so many tests himself ! so, if really interested in learning a lot about oil, and find the time to read it, you will learn things that you didnt imagine.

Pizzyguy I'm a bit confused by this; "This is why I don't get upset at people for not searching - if they use OUR search, they may never find what they are looking for.
And if we just tell people to "search first", we come across as asses.

That is why I tell people to search, but to USE GOOGLE and to put in "Chrysler Crossfire" as your first two terms, then add terms to specify what you are looking for. "

Using the box on the upper right of the forum to search gives you the option to use google. Simple put your cursor over the Threads with the little arrow and the options for the search opens. When searching this forum I always use the box at the upper corner and the option given us to use google with that box. The way you seem to go about a search is to leave the forum completely by opening another web page and then google search or am I misunderstanding what you say? There is even an ADVANCED option using our search box which I have yet to explore. The regular search using the box does give poor results, vice the google search, but using the box keeps you in the frame work of this forum which I find easy to use.

Zip,

I was sitting in the doc's office and bored and finally saw your post above.

Yea, I open a new window and go to Google. I then input "Chrysler Crossfire ..... ...... " followed by my best guess of what search terms to use. This works very well for me. I have TRIED and TRIED to use our search feature as well as "advanced search" and get erroneous responses. With a direct google search (and yes, it took a little practice in how to use the right search terms) I get very good results.

And again, I refuse to really get in the face of a newb for not using our search feature, and you know me, I am quick to call someone a dumbass - but in the case of our search feature, I am slow to offend someone because it looks like they didn't even try when even I can't make the forum search feature work.
