when reality is worse than sci-fi
there was a novel where a virus from another world reaches the earth and brings death through the air.

at the time it was shocking just to think of something like that. seemed far fetched; just a fantasy that we shouldnt harbor for our sanity. like watching horror movies for the fun of it. weird.
for people whose life was so boring, so lacking anything, that watching it was just entertaining. still, sick. not the right way to have fun.
but now we are facing something worse than that. and right here, at our door.
yes, we can die. if we dont do whatever has to be done we die. even if we do all that we can do.
so, what do we do?
get depressed, keep thinking on it and die?
or try to do what it takes and keep our mind busy, thinking on something positive, learning something, praying, taking advantage of all the good things that we still have, like this fantastic world of the internet, for instance, and reach everywhere at the touch of a keyboard and learn, or talk to others without the risk of dying?
your choice.
thats 1 of the good things of being a dreamer.

2) It has already been proven, that some of us already have immunity.
When round two of this virus comes, this fall/winter, it may be a weaker virus, or it may be stronger. HOWEVER: Within 24 months, we will probably have a vaccine.
THis is no Andromeda Strain.

Any move to make it political can result in the thread being closed or (more likely) the banning of the offending member.
For many years now, politics is our only banned topic; those who have been here as long as I have know why this is.

i made the comparison based on fatalities, and with andromeda hitting a small population, the figures we have are way larger.

We have an American car, built in Germany, that fact alone invokes questions of National policies..ie..politics. Fiat...an Italian company buying Chrysler, for example. World politics , affecting our everyday lives, and even with the inclusion of an Off-Topic area of this automobile forum, we are banned, or risk being banned if we discuss, inform, (or argue about) that topic and what we have come to believe from the various media outlets.
~ Maybe, I'm guessing, the rule was made simply to keep folks on an automobile topic here on this forum and that there are plenty of other websites and forums to post political opinions and venting. Off Topic posts about....say..Mandatory Flouridation of public water supplies could be a topic about medical risks or benefits, but, you can bet it even that conversation would turn political and someone would get reprimanded or banned. Not making an opinion on the powers of Forum Moderators, but just stating an observation. WWG1WGA "Q".....Peace

but the description says it clear: GeneralThis section is for anything that is not related to the Crossfire or other cars. It can be about sports, movies etc..

THere is a LOT of hope, in the long term.
1) There are more than two drugs that are showing promise in both treatment and prevention.
2) An actual vaccine is PROBABLY going to emerge in the next two years.
3) There is also a chance the virus itself will mutate into a much more deadly form, but a chemist tells me the most likely outcome is that it mutates into a LESS dangerous form, or does not change much at all.
This will pass, just like the 1918/1919 flu passed, just like the black death and cholera passed. Mankind has seen some plagues take out 1/3 of the population of entire regions - this will not happen with the China Virus.
It's not easy to deal with what we are going thru, but the entire world is going thru it - for once, we are ALL in the same boat and we are ALL working to address this. I am VERY optimistic, long term.

Never met a cat I didn't like. We've always had them. Still got 2 left that live indoors. Always rescue cats. They are getting cabin fever too. They are itching to get outside in the screened in deck. Who isn't?
