Default NEEDS BUYING ADVICE! New member here! :)

Hello everyone! I'm a new member as of today!

I'm from sunny Florida and I'm looking for some advice on buying a coupe!

The Chrysler I'm lOoking at is a

2004
Crossfire coupe 3.2

With, get this.. ONLY 2000 MILES ON IT!!!

The man bought it brand new in 04 off the showroom floor

His wife didn't like it and they kept it in their garage since buying it
It's been run at least once a week and warmed up

NEVER BEEN IN THE RAIN OR HAD WATER TOUCH IT

it's had the oil changed 2 times and the battery

Looks like its never been used or sat in

Has the original wax job smooth as can be

Sits in the garage with a car cover over it!!

We've worked out 18500 to buy it from him

Is this a good idea or does its age mean I could have many problems down the road.

Thanks all!!

Based on what I have seen here in the past year:

A limited Roadster with those miles would go for $18 to $20K.

An SRT Roadster would be advertised for $23 to $25K and sell for something over $20K

I'd say $18K would be on the upper end, pricewise for an N/A coupe.

Is it the color you want?
Low miles - is that REALLY that important?
Do you REALLY believe they have run the engine that much over the years?

If your answers are: "yes, yes and yes" then I'd say buy it. I predict that some here will tell you that you overpaid, but it's up to you.

I'd have the coolant flushed, brakes bled, and if it's an auto, the transmission fluid and filter changed, if it were me. And tires? Old tires even with a lot of tread are nothing I'd drive on!

Just thinking out loud here.. $18.5k.. say you put 20k miles on it in the next year thoroughly enjoying it.. Now worth what maybe 14.5K?

04 model .. hope that's cash in hand.. typically lenders are going to balk at the model year too..

Just some thoughts.. But I'm sure the car is VERY sweet..

Got my coupe with 32,500 miles. NOT in pristine shape, but with another $500 I brought it up to 'very good' condition. Cost was $10,000.

$18,500 may be a bit high. From this forum, I think most would agree that it is a bit high. I like that 2000 miles and perfect condition. Maybe $15000?

Thank you to everyone who replied!

I know the price is high but i won't mind...
The guy has gotten lots of offered but hell hold it for me..

My main concern however is that I need to know if mechanically it will stand up wothout problems as long as I maintain it properly and do not beat on it...

I'm just a bit Leary because although it was run weekly and the oil was changed
It is an almost 10 year old car!

Should I be worried about old belts or filters?
Maybe old gaskets that are just broken Down do to age?

The car could literally be sitting in a showroom it's so clean

I just want to make sure that if I buy this car it will hold up without major issues for a good while...

Carfax shows its clean and nothing hiding..

He has the receipts for the oil changes and battery changes

Pricing aside, is this a good investment for someone looking o get at least a few years without too much trouble?

Thanks all I really appreciate it

if you can test drive it before you buy then give it a go you will fall in love with it. It's also a head turner. IMO no one can say mechanically it can be good or bad.. it all depends on your luck. But if you get him lil bit lower I would say its a awesome toy (maybe not much of a good investment if you are looking at ROI as selling it is kind of hard). You might get the typical issues down the line.. check the common problems but they can be easily fixed if you can follow DIY and believe me I have followed these DIY and DIY is very easy to follow. I have changed my spark plugs / oil / transmission leak fix also fixed my sticky key issue just by following DIY and those things I never done before on any car. Don't get scared my car has aloooooot of km on it so you are far away from those problems I hope.
