Ahh.. it's said to be a safety feature as the car can become unstable at 85ish or so..and since mine doesn't know how fast it's going.. well better safe than sorry.. LOL.

So yoursis open all the time or doesn't open? My spoiler does not have that issue.
I am thinking of leaving it as is. I hate the ABS. I twice had someone lock up their brakes on dry pavement in front of me and I could have stopped had it not been for the ABS. It always lets up at the last second allowing the car to continue forward when it would have stopped otherwise.
On wet pavement is a different story but I do not plan on taking out "LOLA" in the rain

Funny! I open mine up when I go out because I think it looks cool. I don't do much freeway driving.

Wish I could claim she's so fast the spoiler can't open quick enough before hitting 120..

I'll just settle for the truth here..

You were obviously traveling too close to the car in front, don't blame the braking system. It is highly probable that they had ABS as well.

No I went the probable cause route.. bought 4 "known" good sensors and swapped them out one at a time.. to no avail .. Set up an appointment with the dealership for setting the system up with my new tire pressure monitors.. $35 bucks.. another $75 for any other diagnostics.. Think we'll just keep our tail in the air.. LOL

Gotcha. And I was not following to close as both incidents were in heavy Atlanta traffic going around 20MPH stop and go and my reactions are not as quick as they were when I was younger. Not making excuses just saying I would not have made contact had I been in my 64 GTO. I do not like ABS

I quess I should buy them for 75 anyway. Let me know and I can send a money order. Or call me.

ABS is like Front Wheel drive - it saves you in certain circumstances, but MOST of the time, it pisses me off.

It is a known fact, at least to some, that many people who brake hard enough to initiate the ABS system release the pressure of their foot on the brake pedal in response to the vibrations felt when they should be maintaining that pressure.

The rule is keep applying the brake pressure until the situation that caused the emergency braking is over, do not let up on the brake until then.

The brake assist program on these cars will add pressure to the brake fluid when certain parameters are met but will release that pressure if the pedal is released by the operator. The speed of response and pressure applied are what triggers the BAS.

These cars and the systems in them are smarter than us, let's not bring them down to our level.

Wow Pizza guy somebody agrees with me. I am thinking I may leave the car the way it is instead of replacing speed sensors then finding that is not the issue etc... If my ESP worked I would be shutting it off every time i get in the car anyway.

The GTO had drum brakes and was slightly heavier, I guess your reactions have slowed down a lot, maybe you should give up driving. LOL

Actually my GTO had 4 wheel disc power brake conversion done on it with a duel master cylinder. It stopped on a dime. But didn't have ABS.

I Believe Anti-Lock Brakes Treat Drivers Like Idiots

And you know what? Many drivers are idiots, so perhaps this is a good thing. I just want the option to turn them off. The thing that really irks me, is “stopping” isn’t always the best course of action in a slippery situation. Anti-lock brakes take away any options a smart, quick thinking driver might utilize. Want to ditch the car? Good luck, a tap on the brakes will take away any maneuvering abilities you may have had. Want to powerslide to point your car in the “least likely to kill anyone” position as you slide past a stop sign? Again, no chance because your brake pedal has grown a mind of its own.
So there it is. I think anti-lock brakes are great for people that need them. I think anti-lock brakes are great for people who aren’t sure if they need them, because they probably do. Heck, I’m SO GLAD anti-lock brakes are in the vehicles of people that slam on the brakes and scream when they approach a stoplight on icy roads.
But honestly, I think I’m a better driver than the computer that pumps the brakes eleventy hundred times a second. Sure, it can stop in a straight line stop on bare ice faster than I can — but there’s more to driving than pumping the brakes, and I think my foot has the upper hand. If it were not for ABS I simply would not have ever touched the rear bumper of 2 cars that I ended up bumping because they slammed on their brakes for no reason.

My comments above are in reference to the damn Ford Service van I drove at Transcomm. Pulsing the brakes like ABS does means you stop in a straighter line, but it takes farther to stop.

ABS does treat drivers like idiots, and Im not sure it is a good thing. WHen I want to stop, I want to STOP.

Yea, I'd rather be a SAFE idiot than a possibly injured EXPERT.
NOTE to pizzaguy :
You are a radio expert, why don't you steal the design of the forward looking radar
and build us a cheap kit so the car automatically slams on the brakes if we get too close
to something and the speed is over 10 MPH or so ?
Then we can go back to texting and eating hamburgers safely.

I had the GMC model of this van, it was not great at stopping and my 3.6L engine self destructed due to a coolant leak.
This should sum up ABS systems. CLICK

PS
Most drivers are idiots, me included at times. Monday night I drove my wife's car when I knew a tire was really low on pressure, it was getting lower and by the time I got home the tire was toast. I'm waiting for the tire shop to call and say my two new tires are in. WTH it needed new tires anyway.
Funny thing is if it was the Crossfire I would not have driven it with low air, so I guess the 300 does not get any respect.

Has anybody mentioned checking the fuses for the BAS/ESP?
Or the main line could have been disconnected. It's very easy to do if you want to deactivate the traction control completely.
