Check these out !!
While I think that they are really neat looking I wonder about the rescue aspects of it. When it is involved in different types of collisions, how much harder and time consuming would it be to get injured persons out when the doors are inoperable?

isn't that where the jaws of life come in?
Wow! love the disappearing doors! Looking at the window and door retracting speed, I'm guessing a combinaison of air cylinder mechanisms are used. I can see this idea catching on in the near future, specially with minivans since they benifit from a higher ground clearance.
The Hi-wire is also a really neat prototype for sure. Being a prototype, I supose you can overlook the door rattle and the noisy vehicle control rack servo motor!

Absolutely, but it isn't a magical tool that automatically opens doors. There are various considerations such as air cylinder locations, air bags and their associated parts, hardened beams, etc. All of which slow down the process and make it dangerous to be prying and cutting on some of these cars today to both the rescued and the rescuer. Not impossible just harder.
