Default Road Races

Hi all. Since I am new here forgive anything I mess up. I fell in love with the Crossfire the first time I got to drive it. I bought a 2006 coop for my wife in September of last year.

As I read the post I see that we all like the speed and handleing of these great cars. Well I hope that I have found the best way to do both. I live in Fort Stockton, TX and we have a road race twice a year, one on US285 and the other on US385. The race on US285 is on April 26 this year. The racecourse is 50 miles long and has 59 curves. The course goes through hills and long straight-aways. This race is a timed race so you have to control your speed, to slow or to fast and you are disqualified.

OK, I rambled enough. If you are interested then check out their web site at www.bborr.com. I would like to see a large number of Crossfire’s instead of the Corvettes that show up. I really think that it would great to have a large rally and enjoy the race.

Welcome to the forums, N5LIR. The road race you speak of, is it sanctioned? How many cars on the course at the same time? Do the local authorities close the road to traffic during the race?

Bob

Yes, welcome to the forum. If you can gather a large number of crossfires to come compete, I would also be very much interested. I am assuming they do this road race much like the nevada open or the silver state classic?

Thanks for the response.

Xfirenorth, the race is sanctioned. Check their website, www.bborr.com. The Highway is closed for the race and the number of cars on the route is varies according to the bracket that they are in. In the unlimited class there is only one car on the course. In the slower brackets the cars may be as close as 30 seconds.

There have been 115 cars in some of the past races and as few as 85.

For those that are not aweare of how this type of race works, it is a timed race. You also have a Tech speed that you can not exceed. The idea is to get from point A to point B as close to the time for your speed bracket. So if you are in the 100mph bracket then you must run the course in 20.00 minuets. The winner is determined by who is closets to this time + or -.

If you are interested in coming out here and seeing what this type of race is about then you can come and be a gate guard for this years race. There is no cost to do this other than you personel needs, (hotel, meals, and the ever increasing fuel). Againg check out their website, www.bborr.com, to find out how to register.
