I had myself been putting this off for the 2 years I have owned my roadster, but lately it has been getting a bit more troublesome, so night before last I printed out the 10 page DIY pdf and dove in.
Surprise !!! Not as hard as you might think !

Couple of hints :
1. the transmission interlock cable is disconnected by pulling DOWN on the 2 release ears, NOT sliding back.
2. it is much easier to get to the ignition electrical plug if you do that AFTER releasing the clamp and rotating the assembly ( front up, back down ).

The most difficult part for me was getting the lock cylinder and locking ring back in after the repair, but I just kept fiddling and it finally went back together.

Total time I spent was about an hour and a half.

COME DO MINE !! Right now I have to keep a key in the switch, I remove it, and it's hour or more until I can turn the key for the car to crank over ! I found leaving the key in ...no trouble. Pull that sucker out !! BAMB...

ps. Crossed over 119,000 this morning !! yes, 431.....

Drive down here one day after work and we can do it.
I'm now a certified lock-fixer.

ALAXFIRE and I did mine about two weeks ago. It was intimidating to me as my skill set with a screwdriver and wrenches aren't so good. But I'll tell ya, it wasn't all that hard to do ...honestly. To me hardest part was putting the screws back in the panels once the switch was back in place.
IT'S been two weeks and switch has been working like a charm !!

Sadly, pretty much this... Doubt you'll find anything for the XF though

So, the goal for the stuck key is to get the spring and pin out from under the hatch on the ignition assembly? So I followed the text and also the Utube vid and did it. Thank you forum. So nice to get somewhere and not have to worry if I can get the car started. The Utube vid helped and I followed the advice of first removing the assembly and then, with a pair of channel locks I removed the harness from the back. Steering lock cable was fairly easy to detach but on reinstall I attached it like the harness before putting unit back in the strap. I guess this problem came about long after Chrysler quit production otherwise there should have been a recall.
