Default ABS PUMP Keeps on running!

My abs pump keeps running even after i switch the car off, i had to unplug the battery so it would stop.. has anybody had this problem ?? i took the car to the dealer and they said that it was de abs pump and module, they made me buy a new one and after they installed it, i drove the car around for like 20 minutes.. switched off.. then i got into the car again and the abs pump came on and it wont shut off, im pretty sure that its not the abs pump or module at all, it must be something else thats activating it, but the funny thing is that even if the car is off it keeps running... i hope someone can help!! thanks!

Its probably the ignition switch starting to fail.

When you turn off the ignition key, it is supposed to disconnect the electrical connection to all the major electronic devices in the car. If the ignition key is starting to fail, this can leave an intermittent connection to one or more devices.

Since you have already replaced the ABS control module without any change, that would be my next direction without any other ideas.

I would track down the source of the ABS signal via a wiring or troubleshooting diagram, and see where the source is, and inspect it next.

oh ok i see what your saying.. but should the abs pump be working all the time while the car is running ?? i think it just gets activated from time to time and the problem that i have right now is that its always working, if i drive the car for too long it gets overheated.. ill look into what your saying though thanks!

My guess would be that one of the computers is getting a signal from a part of the car that says that a wheel is trying to lockup, which then causes the abs pump to run.

Have you had an accident recently, or had work done to your wheels or brakes?
New tires that are the wrong size?
Anything?

The wheel sensor is on the steering knuckle behind the rotor, on each wheel.
I'm sure there is a process to test the sensor with an ohm meter.

Do a search for the thread that has the copy of the repair manual, and search for the section on the brakes. It should explain everything you need to know.

If the ABS pump is staying on all the time, I would look for the power supply to the pump and see what controlls all aspects of powering up the pump, because it sounds like you have a power lead problem or a bad grounding issue depending on how the system operates, either way it does sound electrical, also I would be looking at all wires/harness in the area of the accident

Thanks for all the help guys, well what i ended up doing yesterday was unpluggint the fuse that powers up the pump, and today I just got to my office from the dealer and they dont seem to know what the problem is, i didnt leave the car there since they woudlnt know what to do with it, i am positive its got something to do with the powe, it cant be a sensor since the pump runs when the car is off, i dont know how the car cuts the power supply from the pump when you switch the engine off but its certanily not doing that, it just keeps on feeding power to the pump.

Anyways im going to keep on checking that up since in the dealership have no clue of how to fix it.. if anybody has any ideas i would really apreciate them!!

Thanks!

Check your power feeds, the wire that engages the pump may be shorted to B+ or an internal failure in a module keeping a constant B+, and like mentioned before, the ignition switch could be defective allowing an open B+ circut, but in short there is something that is shorted out allowing the pump to run all the time, it may be also a ground triggered circut, check out the wiring diagram, to start, good luck.
