Default Check Engine Light - HELP

I have a 2004 Crossfire Coupe Limited (40k miles), and recently the Check Engine light has come on (after I filled up the tank). First thing I did was check the gas cap, it was fine, but the light is still on. I thought maybe it was poor quality Gas so I put some of the fuel cleaner in that tank and the next day the light actually went off. But it only stayed off for about 2 hours, and now it's back.

While the car is warm (after driving for 15 min or so), if I turn off the car and try to start it back up it gives me trouble and won't turn over. It take about 4 tries until it finally starts back up. It starts just fine on cold starts.

Other than that the car runs normal! Before I take it to the dealer to be fixed, does anyone have any advice or has anyone experienced this? And how much did it cost?

Thanks in advance for your help!

- TP

What a coincidence... My '04 recently hit the 40K mile mark... this morning the check engine light came on. TP did you end up taking yours to the dealer??

Yes warranty part, I have an extended one. Otherwise the part is like $147.

Did you get your car scanned by a dealer? let us know what sensor error is at fault.
I have heard of other cars with a pressure sensor near the tank would fail, but it could also be a hose connection at some port that blew off due to high pressure in the tank. I would need to look at the factory manual for a diagram and see where the vent hoses and ports are located.

You might want to run it by an auto parts store and let them scan it. I think Auto Zone & Advance Auto do them for free.

I'm not sure. Can't hurt to call or stop by though.

TP,

What was ever the outcome at the dealer? I am curious because my XF has started to do this same problem. It didn't actually start until I started using the "quick start" feature our cars offer. Not really sure if its called the quick start but I'm sure someone can explain more in-depth. I'll be going to the dealer later this week. Are there others that have had this besides those of us who have voiced here? My mileage is at approx 42K.

Later,
Q

Wow! First post in over two years and you bring up a post that's nearly two years old.

Welcome back! Now, what exactly is your problem?
