I got my TB (thanks Len!) On Friday and will be doing the install later this afternoon. I am very excited to hear and feel what the new TB can do! Come october, I will be looking to do injectors and a tune, and will be looking for a local dyno for some concrete numbers : )

I also am interested in the 74mm tb conversion. I got the MB# 1131410025 Bosch# 0205003048 tb by accident. The casting is very different. Our original wiring uses a squarish connector and the 025 uses a round connector.

To change over the electronics you would have to reshape or modify the casting to accommodate the connector. Also the top of the casting has a double vacuum line.

All may not be lost though this tb still might be able to be used. Upon examination I noticed that in each connector there are 6 pins.

It occurred to me that if the pinout is the same a wiring harness adapter would be much easier. A plug or adapter of sorts might also be fabricated for the vacuum lines. When I realized these differences I stopped. There may be something I missed.

I have been studying manifold pic's and I don't think the Vac. line would be an issue after all. I may be wrong.

Wow, your pics make it look like it is a very accessible area : P My poor finger got mauled trying to get that stupid clip off rubbing against the exhaust manifold. Once I got that part off, it was smooth sailing doing the swap, but unfortunately it was raining when I finished and I just had the thing detailed... I am eagerly waiting the end of the day so I can give it a test run. It did just as described and idled roughly for a solid 15 minutes while it learned the new air timings.

I haven't got to the track to compare to last fall baseline and no access to dyno or no baseline for that matter......It does feel like it's benefiting the top end but no numbers to back it up......Perhaps you should address your question to TVT or buy some dyno time......

are you suggesting i buy you dyno time? lol.

i've noticed that there is lots of excitement whenever someone announces a means or method to increase power.

people jump at the chance to buy the product and then...silence.
no reports of improvement.

1 or 2 reports out of 100 of 'It does feel like it's benefiting the top end' has no statistical merit.

ask tvt?

they read this forum and can reply at any time. i'm still waiting for the tvt 300 kit info that was going to be available months ago.

i'm not much for smoke and mirrors. if i spent $200-$500+ on a bolt on and observed significant improvement, i'd be shouting out the results to everyone.

conversely, if i found something that didn't work, i'd express that also.

You guys installing these new TB's should do a port and polish on them before you install. Woody did a very nice right up on this. If your going for more air, it might as well be smooooth air!

I have one with a needswings CAI, I believe that it made 8-10 hp more. 8-10hp usually feels like a little throttle response. The engine feels like it can breathe better. I didn't notice a huge difference as far as getting thrown back into the seat, but the car feels peppier in situations where I would expect it to bog a little bit. I feel like the car is a little easier to drive now. The TB's larger opening is only beneficial at times where the smaller one would be a restriction. For $200-$300 I think it's worth it, but it wouldn't be my first modification. The more the TB becomes a restriction, the more power it will make.

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has a spare Thottle body I can play around with and modify for the NA car. I'm machining new butterflys for a Honda dirtbike and would like to experiment with the Crossfire. Maybe I can make some improvements over the stock throttle response that doesn't require those goofy Sprintboosters.

PM me what you have available.

The only result I got is this. After a few miles with the new tb I had to replace the ECU! Very strange... Could it be? Maybe the eletronics on my part were not done well.

I've got a couple of thousand on mine, don't understand what could have happened Psuperti, but I don't think it's TB related.

You goin to TMS on Sept. 26th ???

I was all ready to attend the event, even got a trailer to take the crossfire there with my hummer (3hr drive) but my mechanis are having the hardest time figuring out what's wrong with the car. So I got a month to get it fixed. They think the UPSOLUTE ECU flash that I got in 2005 did the problem. That it went corrupt and corrupted 3 modules as well.

Talking Re: 74mm Throttle Body Upgrade

I finally found a TB and got everything going. First off I would like to point out the differences in the 68mm and 74mm

The one on the right is the 74mm you will notice the one on the left has a lip in the throat.

This picture shows the difference in the MAF housing of the V-8 and V6

This picture shows the elbow from the MAF to the TB

As per TVT's website I removed the "vanes" inside.

as far as performance is concerned, I'm not sure yet my MAF is not acting correctly (May be bad) and I'm also using the stock air box

You can't just put the V8 MAF on the V6, it will buck and run real lean cause its not tuned properly.

PM me and I'll let you know how to get it to work, I hope you don't mind that I'm using your pic, if you do let me know.
