Cheap Sprint Boosters
Which model of SB is this he is selling? There is a manual, an auto, and a SRT version. The manual is the most aggressive, then auto, and then finally SRT is the most mild.
I think these 3 models roughly correspond to the 3 modes in the new selectable version, but I am not for sure.

So what about this clutch delay thing? I really want that thing gone. It appears these cars could go alot faster if it wasnt for these stupid (but necessary) sensors.

In previous Bimmers of mine, there was a clutch delay valve (CDV). This was a valve that would regulate flow so that you could not drop the clutch at 5K and damage your car, it would let it out a little more slowly no matter what.
The company I used on my old cars was Zeckhausen racing, CDV
I emailed them and this is the response I got....
"John,
This would be the first time I have heard of a CDV being installed on a Mercedes/Chrysler transmission. The way to figure out if such a device is present is simply to trace the hydraulic line from the clutch master cylinder to the clutch slave cylinder, looking for anything that imposes a 1-way flow restriction. It may be built into a hydraulic line, just like the BMW Z3 M Coupe & Roadster. It may be a separate device, like most BMW models. Or it may be built into the slave or master cylinder.
This is the sort of thing that, if real, would probably be the topic of discussion on any of the popular Chrysler Crossfire or Mercedes SLK forums. That's where I would start.
Sincerely,

He says to check a crossfire forum, do you know of any good ones around??

So, let's us here on the Forum discuss this thing.
I only know of it from having my car in the shop at Eurocharged. One of the guys was suggesting we remove it or drill it out. I ask, So, where is it?' he said it was inside the bell housing. Since he wanted several hundred to pull the unit I didn't ask him to "show me"
I am, for the moment taking him for his word. As to the actual existance of the thing, try popping your clutch. It won't do it. Every other hydraulic clutch I own "pops" so for the moment, I will continue to believe.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I just signed up as a dealer for the latest version of the Sprint Booster. This is the one with three modes, OFF, Street and Track.
Forum member cost looks like $280 including S&H to the continental US. Send me a PM if interested.

I installed mine a couple years ago and couldn't stop driving it the first time I took it out for a drive.
It's like a totally different car....you will be amazed at the feeling it provides.

This is the claim and has been supported by other forum members
"What can a Sprint Booster do for me? Most 2000-up model cars no longer use the conventional throttle cable and have replaced it with an ECM (Electronic Control Module) designed to translate how hard the pedal is pushed into an electronic instruction to provide power to the wheels.
The ETC (Electronic Throttle Control), otherwise known as "Drive-By-Wire", causes a delayed response and subdues acceleration, creating problems in situations such as quick gear changes, pulling into traffic, passing other vehicles and up-hill starts.
The Sprint Booster Power Converter eliminates this delayed throttle response and provides immediate on-tap acceleration whenever the driver demands it! Most cars have a 1 second lag between when the pedal is pushed and the car actually responds. The Sprint Booster corrects this problem instantly giving you all your vehicles power with no hesitation. Give your vehicle a Throttle Boost!" HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH IT FEELS FASTER, THE SPRINT BOOSTER DOES NOT INCREASE POWER! It DOES feel faster because the response is quicker"

Anyone with experience please feel free to correct me, but my understanding is that it simply takes out that (agonizing) lag between the pedal being depressed and the response to the input.
While not changing the speed of the shift up while accelerating, it will shift down quicker as a result of the quicker throttle response as when wanting to pass.

I agree w/ all that you just mentioned SRT SIX. It does seem to kick down faster w/ the new SB; I hadn't considered that. It is IMHO the first mod that a new owner should do; and then CAI, and then.....and then...and then... LOL

Aplologies to those who have ordered the new selectable Sprint Booster from me.
It appears the Mfg has not kept their delivery promise. They are expected in a couple weeks, however, without a firm date, I will not keep funds that were forwarded to me. I have issued paypal refunds to those who did order this item.
The company I am dealing with appears to be very reliable and I requested them to refund my payments as well. They complied immediately and said they would let me know when they are readily available.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Karl
