No Sound from Speakers after Reversed JumpStart
Doing research on behalf of my son (overseas w/ Army). His home is 5 hours away, so I can't troubleshoot myself just yet. I'll be there in a couple of weeks.
His wife had left a light on, or something, so battery was down, and needed jumping. She jumped it backwards. In her defense, she said the red plastic post cover was on the Neg post instead of the Pos. After the smoke and sparks cleared, she realized what was wrong, and then jumped it okay. However, the radio will turn on, but now there's no sound. So far, that's all she's found wrong, but I can imagine there's more.
Possible reasons for no sound ?
Thx, Dave

Best case is it just blew a fuse in the radio....next best it blew up the radio.... worse, it blew up the amp...
maybe a fuse in the amp?
Have her look at ALL the fuses under the hood on the drivers side and in the dash on the drivers side (open door and remove panel - easy access) also.... she could have blown one or more fuses that dont show up right away...
or test every function in the car and see if it is working right....

Thx, Mike - good to know there is a possible best case. I'll have her check what she can, and I'll check for a radio-removal DIY, and where the amp is.
Kane, she just mentioned this over the Thanksgiving weekend when she and the kids were here, but only because I asked how the car was doing, since it's not her daily car. So leaving it alone will be easy. I do need to ask her to do that, though.
I think I have the radio removal tools already (I have a '97 MB). And I found a thread showing where the amp is, so we'll see what we see next weekend when we drive the 5 hours for grandson's b'day party.

I recall reading about that gremlin. I'll ask her for more details.
BTW, what does na, n/a, NA mean ? North American version ? If so, what other versions are there and what's unique about the NA's? I've done a fair amount of searching and can't quite find the answer.

Download the Crossfire repair manual:
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html
There is a chapter called audio/video that contains detailed desciption for errors, fuses...
There are 3 fuses that can be affected in your case: No 5, 8, 23.
The fuse for the amp is No 23.

PNA : thx - I know about all the model possibilities, but somehow missed the NA term (doh). This is a roadster NA, manual trans.
bigblock427: thx - I'll do that. 8 more days and I'll get a look at it. She's driven it a couple of times since, and has not found any other non-working items !
I drove it around my place for about a week after picking it up at the dealer for them, then drove 5 hours to their house (manual trans). It took 40 minutes to get through Nashville, TN - after 10 minutes I wished it were an automatic. But still very, very fun to drive. Could use some more visibility to the back corners, but if you just step on it, you don't have to worry very much with what's behind you. When my '84 300DT MB quits (370k mi), I'm seriously considering one of these in some form - probably hardtop, just so I don't have to deal the soft-top issues. But I really like that the tops just fold away so easily. I rented a 2007 Sebring convertible a few years ago - very similar - including the fun.

If you adjust your side mirrors right, you dont have much trouble seeing that blind spot.... just lean all the way left and adjust drivers mirror so you can just see the back of the car.. then lean to the right to about the same distance or a little more and adjust the passenger mirror to just see the back of the car... now when your driving you should be able to see any cars coming up on your quarter panel... works good for me
Ta-Dah! Fuse #23. Thank you so much - she moved that red cover to the POS post after the miscue. There are other markings of course, which I've told her about.
Regarding blind spots - thx for the advice. For interstate driving in particular, I do move the mirrors on everything I drive outward a little past the point I cannot see the side of the car. And sometimes a little more. That's saved my car's paint many times.
