Default Need info on what is underneath the rear "WALL"

Has anyone taken apart the "wall" or partition that is behind the seats? I am looking to install a fire extinguisher in that area and I am looking for body metal to mount the brackets. I thought I saw someone's photo of the rear area when they dismantled it for a subwoofer...but now I can't find the pics. Any help here would be grateful. I thought about a bracket for the front of the passenger seat as another location... Any ideas?

There is a past thread or two about what is in the "wall". As I recall, be careful because part of the gas tank is in it.

Try the search function, perhaps "gas tank".

Yup - the gas tank and on the back side, a seriously thick plate.

I thought it was DFWSBR that had a bunch of stuff on his web site about tearing down the inside, but it's gone off there now? http://www.dfwsbr/crossfire

I've taken off a lot of the panels... there is metal on the left and right side that's not up against the tank but you may want to remove the rear speakers to take a look inside before you drill.

DFWSBR, Your site is awesome, very helpful.

I still have a question, what retains the new radio (Pioneer) in the console when it's installed?

Does it snap into the DIN frame the same as the original equipment?

I am hoping for a completely reversable installation.

Perfect.

DFWSBR: where the leatherete pouch is located (just underneath the 2 umbrella hooks. Is it empty space behind it (within the wall). It looks like a good place to mount my bracket. I would just re-install the pouch when I don't need the extinguisher...and the pouch would hide screw holes.

Thanks.

All single din units come with a cage. This cage is made out of thin aluminum. It has universal tabs to be pressed down into the area of the dash. Once secured, you slide the radio unit into the cage. It will lock into place. To remove, use the supplied security keys.

Yes, the cage and radio can be removed. Use a harness adapter kit so you don't have to hack into the factory wires. Then it would be a snap to go back to the factory deck.

Remove deck > disconnect harness > disconnect antenna > remove cage> attach power to stock deck > attach antenna > push back into place.
