I don't understand your point. You got the car for you. You don't like the wing. Great.

If you say you don't care what other people think, why are you worrying about a wing that only goes up when your doing 65 mph or more, when you can't even see it? If you know it comes up only above 65 mph, whats the big deal? Any time your looking at the car, it's gotta be down because it's not doing 65 mph. Would it make you feel better knowing its down when your doing 70 mph? At least you know its there for your safety. Only other people can see your car and the wing when your going that fast, so obviously you have to be worrying about what they think.

I just think its stupid and dangerous, not to mention, kind of ridiculous when it's such a nice and unique feature. I can't see how anyone can honestly say it looks ricey. How does it look ricey when theres NO Honda, Nissan, or ANY rice car with a moving wing?? I don't know about you but the last time I checked at Pep Boys there was no universal moving wings!!! lol

No offense Andrew or Theotherbrit but I think you guys are foolish and taking an unneccessary risk. We all remember the TT. And I dont mean to argue about this.., but I like the wing A LOT, for both asthetic and safety reasons. I don't want to see anyone get hurt, which is what I think would happen if turning the wing off was widespread. Ya know? Most likely you guys will be fine, but if theres 100 wings out there turned off.. sooner or later someone will get into trouble under some high speed breaking, or any other of a number of situations. Plus it looks great.

The TT had problems at speeds on the German autobans, 120 mph plus. The wing is not a safety feature on U.S. roads. As I said before:

"Mechanically and aerodynamically at speeds under 80-90 mph the wing has little effect. At these speeds mechanical grip determined by chassis geometry and tyres are more important. Some of the 'squirlyness' folks talk about are more than likely a combination of tyre and road surface."

The wing can be seen from inside the car and partially blocks the rear view as I said in an earlier post. It rattles.

The unique feature was an afterthought by DC. The show car did not have it.

I want to diconnect the wiring for the wing, not have silly alarm go off at 80 mph and be done with it.

That's what happens when you use it as a luggage rack. j/k

It does look somewhat flimsy but mine is stout as could be. You should have it looked at if it is rattling.

HeHe, the haters are back at it. I don't know how to disconnect it, but I wont talk **** because you want too. I would like to disconnect mine sometimes too, but the only thing I like about it is making kids play "thats my car" when I deploy it at a stop. I'd like to know how though too........

This is aimed directly at NJspeed69. Let theotherbrit take responsibility for his own actions. If he wants to disable the wing and you can provide help with this then, please add to the thread. If you cannot help him, then why attack his personal choice?

This lends the SLR excellent stability when braking from high speeds."

Now why on earth would you not want an awesome feature that a $435,000 car has?

Some other sweet cars with deployable spoilers:

Bugatti Veyron

Lambroghini Murcielago

Chrysler Crossfire

Who still thinks it's ricey?

Welcome to the future, gentlemen.
Not a Mega-Buck car, but my Turbo Beetle had a auto-deployable wing at the top of the rear window also................
It opened at a more radical angle and if the sunroof was open at 65mph....the electronics would close the sunroof when the wing deployed. Is that trik or what????!!!!!

If you found the wires to the motor, try simply disconnecting them.
It may still give the alarm if there is a "wing deployed" signal though.
Or you may be able to disconnect the linkage from the drive motor, just find a way to secure the spoiler or it'll wave at everyone as you pass.
