Your transponder is fine.. the lock unlock feature "might" work when dried out.. but probably not for long..

Needswings.com for a new key.

Nope it's been a month and it doesn't work ughh. Too expensive to replace. I just open and lock the old fashioned way

The bay has cheap used ones. Get one and swap the key blade. Very easy to reprogram.

I'd love to hear your "easy program" method for a used.. not "specific to your car" one..

You've not heard of the SKREEM module, have you?

I got a used one for the bay, followed the reprograming instructions and "somehow" it worked. So, i figured it'd work for most used ones. After reading about the SKREEM module (thank you pizza guy for pointing me in the right direction) - I must have lucked out

Not going to say it can't happen.. my son works at Hibdon tire.. went out to a Ford pickup.. unlocked it.. and key wouldn't work in the ignition.. owner approached him.. seems he had just pulled up and not even talked to a sales person yet..

If you changed the Key blade AND RFID chip to the new one, I could see it working - cause the unlock/lock is customer programmable. But how the SKREEM is reading the new RFID and accepting it is beyond me. If this really is the case, you have bad news: The anti-theft part of your SKREEM is not working.

And you have good news: The SKREEM is not checking properly so maybe yours will never freak out and leave you stranded. At least, that could be the case.

If i had the choice, I'd take the dead SKREEM over being left stranded

I'll look further into my SKREEM and why it may not be working.

Thanks for all the very useful information.
