I do know if the installation instructions, outlined in the link provided above, are followed w/o any deviation, the DRB3 Emulator software will load and operate properly. Dave - If you want to try using Windows XP, I don't know that there is any siginficant risk. This included link doesn't state a specific Windows operating system is required for the Enhanced Emulator DRB3 software. It is somewhat different than the old standard software. Not sure which version you have.

I have two computers I am running this on. One is Windows 7, but the other is windows 10. The critical part is installing the enhanced emulator part precisely. Also, I do not use Witech to launch it, but rather a direct link that opens first in a browser, which then forces the emulator application to run, standalone from Witech.
I'll see about sending over the exact local URL you'll need to run to do this, but it's also out there on the net.

Any tips are appreciated, in other words I am up to my neck in this. I got to the Tech Authority once using Win 7 Pro and a blank chart another time. 🙄
I have been out fishing and returned to see your message(s). Seems like you have gotten appropriate advise but the software is still not working. I may also be able to assist, if you want.

I cannot get Win XP to work wirelessly, so I gave up on XP.
I have at my disposal Win 2000, Win XP and Win 7 Pro disks, I have Win 10 on my desktop but no disk.
Win 7 Pro I had running wirelessly, maybe I should persevere with that.
There are a few various description on how to get the DRB Emulator running, which is best I have no idea.
Then we have the soldering modification mentioned, is that necessary I have no idea. I could do that I am sure, I just need a smaller soldering iron, the three that I have are too big.
Please, is Win 7 Pro a good start?
Thanks for the offer of help, I am going to start with a clean slate.
How was the fishing? My friends son caught a ten foot Sturgeon two weeks ago on the Fraser River in BC. My friend was with him when he caught it, my friend managed to catch a six footer. Last week their guide had someone catch a twelve footer. They are a protected species and a valuable resource for the Province.

Hello, The fishing has been very good. I am a volunteer angler with a Coastal Fisheries Research Project at our local University. We sample the fish populations off the Northern California Coast. We brought in about 200 fish on this last two-day trip. All the fish are measured and weighed and some specimens are also tagged before we safely return them to the ocean. I really enjoy participating as a volunteer angler.
As for the DRB III Emulator:
1) The manufacturer told me to use Windows 7 (Home Edition 32 Bit) Or Windows XP.. But my used ebay laptop came with Windows 7 Professional (64 Bit Service Pack 1) which has worked successfully for me. I think you said you have Windows 7 Professional, so that should work fine.
2) Go ahead and leave the internet/wireless connected while you update your Windows 7 Professional software to the newest versions. You will be turning these features off later.
3) At this point your computer should be ready to proceed with the steps, as outlined above by others, to install the Adobe Air, Java, WiTech, DRB III Emulator and DRBIII Enhanced Emulator - In that specific order. I will also be happy to assist over the phone for free, if you want. No problem.
There are also others who have successfully installed this software/hardware for the DRB III Emulator and I'm sure they too are willing to help. Together, we can do this!

Thanks for the offer, I really appreciate your help. So Win 7 Pro SP 1 it shall be. What did you make of the soldering mod?
I’d volunteer to go fishing any day but not on the ocean waves.🤢
Your Windows 7 Pro SP1 should work fine. I am not familiar with the soldering mod. Not sure if this is a new requirement. Also, I do not operate in wireless mode. Once the windows software is updated, I turn off all internet access and wireless connections and utilize the USB cable that came with the unit. That way there can be no unwanted software updates that take place and cause problems. I just try to keep things as simple as possible.

The solder mod fixes the hardware problem in the newer versions of the clone box, that make it not read many items in the car, and it will definitely have issues in ALL other 2005 down Chryslers. This simple mod fixes that deficiency.
I am at work now, but will post up URL links that you can simply put in a browser running on the machine you have the Witech software, along with the DRBIII Enhance Emulator installed. I made bookmarks for the links, and then simply sent the bookmark to the desktop, meaning I just double click the icon on the desktop, and it opens up Chrome, which then launches the emulator. A mouthful, but it makes it really easy and quick to use. It also makes it to where you can skip all the steps and warnings inside of the Witech software, and just cut to the chase on the part you actually need the Micropod to work for. This also works for the older VCI Pod, if you have one of those (I have both).
If you are looking at some setup aspects of the device that you cannot see any other way, then with it connected to your PC, open up the browser, and type in the following address: 172.22.22.22 Brings up the device's page, and you can look at several interesting aspects of the device. FWIW, the Enhanced Emulator runs on a sub-page of this address. I'll get the URL for it later today.

Thank you for all this helpful information and updates. I have a four year + old version of the Micropod 2 Clone. It seems to operate fine. But I will also check Pin 4 of the 65 TI MAP Chip to make sure it is grounded.
I am still plugging away when I get the mood.
I am using Win 7 Pro SP 1 and I cannot seem to get it to update. I got all the way to the end but it said that site was not available or something.
Please can someone give me a hint on updating? Then I can start again.
The following photo shows what was added to the which file during the failed installation. Comments? Thanks.

Three weeks later and no one has answered, seems if I ask a question I get no answer and the thread dies.
In all the time I have been here and I have asked a question I have never got a reply that was of any use.
Why do I waste my time answering anybody else’s questions?

Hi, a couple of questions, if you have a hint or two Iwould much appreciate it. There are no updates of Win7 since 2020. There is a step where Windows Wall is allowed, this comes before no update on Air and Java. The internet is off at this point.
When you hook it up to the car you have to be online, yes? Is the car started or not? I have done both with no luck. Do use the Ethernet cable at that point?
I am lost and ready to throw in the towel.
I have also tried Win XP Home Edition and Win 7, no luck.
In an earlier post you can see the programs I have installed, two are for internet access and the rest from the CD.
Please if you have a hint I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Dave

Java and AdobeAIR which should NOT be updated
DRBIII Emulator Stub

Hi
Windows ceased updates to Win 7 in 2020, updates cannot be done through their site. I am drowning here and going down for the third time.
Why could they not use Win 10? You have to blow the cobwebs off Windows 7.
Thanks for the reply.

I certainly understand the frustrations with having to work with an old OS - even Windows 10 will be old news soon!.
In any event, it looks like you ran into problems when applying any outstanding Win 7 updates - step 4 of the instructions.
Although Win 7 is no longer supported since Jan of 2020, I believe that updates made since the original release of the OS (or since Service Pack 1) are still available for download to any activated / licensed copy of Win 7.
I just tested that theory by loading a copy of my DRB III emulator installation on to a Virtual Machine instance of my desktop. I enabled all my network interfaces and initiated Windows Update. It seemed to work just fine (see attached screenshots). Enabling network access may have messed up this instance of my emulator, since you shouldn't have internet access after step 23 but this was just a test to show that Windows 7 updates are still available.
If you were unable to install any Win 7 updates after installing the original OS, I'm not sure how proceeding with installation of all the other components would behave.
You may need to start over again and don't go any further until you figure out why you aren't able to apply any Windows updates per step 4.
I'll try to fire up my computer this evening, and get a copy of the direct link to run the Enhanced Emulator. It's just a URL that you open in a browser. Pretty neat. This avoids the need to run the full WiTech software, and as a benefit, bypasses many of the problems with getting this package to actually work.

I cannot get these screens to display try as I may. I get an error code, 80072EFE.
I find the whole thing is confusing. Thanks for trying to help.
I have tried XP Home, Win 7 and Win 7 Pro, no go in any one of them
If I wasn’t grey I would be now.

I'm running this under Win10 on one machine, Win7 on another. No issues with either. WiFi is off on both. I run the Enhanced Emulator (which you need for Crossfire) via Microsoft Edge, although I imagine any browser would do. Here is the URL. Type it *exactly*:
NOTE: The forum software seems to be making an appearance problem in this link above. There are NO spaces (" ") in this link. None. Do not hit your space bar! If you copy/paste and see a space, delete the space!
This will only work after you have installed everything properly. It works with both Micropod II and with the older VCI Pod. No need to fiddle with all of the oddities and licensing issues of the wiTECH Diagnostic App.
