No start
I am working on a 06 cry. Crossfire. The customer had it at the dealer, they looked at it replaced the pulse module couldn't get it to run and said didn't know what is wrong. They brought it to my shop. I checked for codes with my snap on and mac scanner has codes for steering wheel angle sensor no engine codes. I tried to start would not removed battery cable for a min. Still no start, noticed fuel pump not coming on, remote not working. So I removed the rcm resoldered the two common points that fail, retest and it will start and die on the second try only. Not your typical three start when the skreem module goes bad. I also checked the central locking pump, no signs of water or connections issues. I found that if you press the remote and the lock in the car the infrared lights up on the remote does anybody have any ideas what I'm dealing with ?

The way you describe it, I kinda wonder if the fuel pressure isn't low / slow to build up. I'd put a pressure tester on it and turn hte key to "ON" and see if you have the 45-50 pounds you should. Also, see if it drops when you turn the engine over.
If fuel pressure is fine, get your trusty voltmeter/DMM, the service manual, and start looking at the outputs of the RCM. Look at the engine control relay output in particular, both with key ON, with key in START and while hte engine starts and dies. Is it holding up to 10.5 to 13 volts, or is it dropping?
The fact you have no codes kinda makes me think the ECM isn't being powered up completely or for very long.
But I'm not there...........................

Like I said before already soldered rcm, after battery disconnect the car will start on the second try only , is the reason not sure about the skreem module. But the remote is not functioning the door locks although the remote is respondimg. Could it still be the skreem although wait start three times just the second time only. ?

ASSUMING you are responding to me:
1) Are you saying that you must disconnect the battery in order to get two more attempts? If this is REPEATEDLY the case, then OK, fine, maybe you have a bad SKREEM.
2) I don't care if you resoldered the RCM, did you verify your connections are good? Did you verify the relay contacts? If you did not measure the output of the RCM under load / starting, you do not KNOW that it is OK. This is basic electronic diagnostics. Again, I am not there, all I can do is offer diagnostic advice.
3) Post a short video, with sound, of these start attempts - THAT would help a lot. Sometimes, describing what is happening with words just does NOT cut it. I work with an engineering team in Japan. They always want a VIDEO of what we are seeing and doing. Once we give them that, they usually catch on fast. You may THINK you are telling us what is going on, and we might THINK we understand - but all of us could be wrong about that - your symptom(s) are not typical - this may be one for the books.
Pizza guy. Yes after you disconnect battery it will start then die after the second try. Nothing on the first or third try typical of the skreem. . , going to check relay voltage in the morning , not sure how to get video to you
So on the second try, it starts and dies.
But exactly WHAT does it do on the first and third try?
The SKREEM issue goes like this:
.... Turn key, starter spins engine over, it starts and dies.
.... Turn key to off, then back on and to start, it starts and dies.
.... Turn key to off, then back on and to start, it starts and dies.
.... Turn key to off, then back on and to start, and NOTHING happens.
How does your situation differ?

Pizza guy. Mine the first try is nothing at all the second try it turns over starts then dies. The third it does nothing. It I do here the pump come on every time I turn the key on
The SKREEM failure I had in my roadster was the typical three strike and your out scenario. The SKREEM failure that I had in my coupe was as you (Oldfordman) describe. First turn the key - nothing, second turn of the key - wants to start, third turn sometimes would try other times nothing. Disconnect the battery and the same series occurred. Ordered a new SKREEM from Rob and problem fixed. So from my experience the SKREEM failure is not always the "three strikes and your out" but can occur as I described above.

Thanks for that, I'll try to remember this.
Posts 11 and 12 just taught me something.
See THIS is why I/we insist you describe, with words, in detail, what is going on, folks.
AGAIN: "Economy of words" leads to mis-diagnosis, or at least wastes a lot of time.
Many of us veterans just learned something that goes against the 'gospel of the skreem failure' that we have been preaching for a long time.
Sometimes the learning is not only to those who are ASKING the question, but to those who are trying to ANSWER the question.
THis is a very valuable thread.

I though the symptoms I had with my coupe SKREEM failure was weird for sure. However, it was the same scenario as the "typical" SKREEM failure with the exception that on the first turn of the key there was nothing. Second turn and it acted like the symptoms typical of a failed SKREEM response. And since I've been down this road before and have two Crossfires that I could swap parts with, all other issues were ruled out.
