Then do what the rest of us do, go talk to a friend who is a "shade tree mechanic". You cut ONE wire at the module, which is hidden in the console near the shift lever.
Pin 55, pink wire. Super easy, other than wrestling the rubber grip off the emergency brake handle. Ask me how I know.

I was looking thru the service manual (I do that a LOT when I am bored). I was looking for something else, when I noticed something. In the underhood fuse box, fuse 3 powers only the two airbag lights.
If you pull that fuse, no code will be thrown, the light will go out and I THINK you can pass your inspection.

If "no lights" is the specification, then you CAN meet the specifiation. I can't test this on my car as I have the pulse module and fuse box torn up with a mod I am doing. But when I get done, I will put things back together and leave fuse 3 out and see what I have.

Well, that would be the magic sauce. for me and, I'm sure, many others. Please let me know when you try it. Thank you, thank you!

IF ALL ELSE FAILS:

There is a way to, at least, turn off that damn airbag light when the module fails. Based on the homework I have done in 2005 and 2007 service manuals, every Crossfire is wired the same in one way: Fuse 3 in the underhood fuse box powers ONLY the AIrbag Fault light on the left end of the instrument panel and the "Passenger AIrbag Disabled" light on the console.

Pulling this 5 amp fuse disables both lights. I just pulled mine (my car's airbag light has been on since 2016). I drove the car and all is fine. This does not mean the fault is gone, and in fact, in MY case, since a guy with the STAR tool looked at it, I know my airbags will not go off in an accident because my module is completely dead.

But I do not like airbags anyway. I was injured twice in car accidents in 2014 (Crossfire - not my fault) and 2015 (Dodge Ram Truck - my fault) and BOTH times the ONLY injury was from shrapnel due to defective Takata airbags. SInce I REFUSE to let a dealer near my car, I"m good with a disabled airbag.

MODERATOR NOTE: Due to how much this is being discussed, this thread is now a 'sticky'.

On behalf of every owner of a 07-08 Crossfire with a failed airbag module - located in a strict inspection state requiring ALL dash lights be dark. Thank you!

The 07-08 module IS different, the connector is not at all the same as the 05s. I am getting the idea that it is more failure prone than the one before.
Mine failed when I put the top up without the engine running, the top controller stalled, the top froze, and the airbag module came on. A guy read it, or tired to, at a "tech day" we had and it would not talk at all.

Have Zach use our DRBiii emulator and see if he can reset. Maybe Josh Chase can repair it. I would imagine if you find a used one, Josh will need to program VIN to the ORC.

As you are most knowledgeable on this subject would you know or know of someone who knows the Bosch part # that would replace ORC module part #68003236AA?

Everyone out there has Air bag sensors but so far not the part I am looking for.

Thank you.

There appears to be several 07-08 owners chasing the same ORC passenger airbag module. What we know is they are no longer available new. And, only available from an existing 07-08 parts car. Can the existing defective module be repaired? Some say possibly, most others say no. So, we're all left waiting for one to come available as a used part OR we can just pull the fuse & kill the damn red airbag light & hope we're never in an accident where we need the airbag.

BTW just as some information I was at GM in 1974 when airbags were first used. The main benefit was for people who refused to wear a seat belt and was no better than a good set of harnesses. No airbags in race cars.

Hi Kas, everywhere I am looking they give me the airbag sensor not the ORC or as I call it " the Brains of the Operation!" If I locate will see if there are other donor
vehicles available at that location. Thanks,

I agree. Unfortunately, the state I live in disagrees & refuses to allow the issuance of the required safety inspection sticker if any dash warning lights are visible at the time of inspection. Leaving pulling the dash light fuse as the only option.

I need the passenger airbag sensor. But, only from a 07-08. 04-06 doesn't work. Different part & part number.

On another car with an early and known defective airbag you just bypassed the coil with a resistor and the computer was happy. Do not know anything about legality these days.

Might mention have been wearing seatbelts since before they were standard and full harnesses when racing.

Not sure if anyone has used this vendor for repairing the ORC, but they claim they can do it: CLICK

Might be worth investigating.

We apparently need a different module. I need: part #68024494AA OCM passenger side for an 07.

May have found the ORC module for my vehicle. I am assured that it is the part I am looking for so.............with a 30 day return guarantee I am going for it and
praying! Seems to be the right timing as one of the 2 techs who work on my vehicle are back to work after returning from rotator cuff surgery.

The place I located the part has alot of air bag sensors for 07/08's. Contact Steve@countyautosalvage.com

Keep you posted if successful transplant!

Thanks! I have contacted him posthaste. Be aware there are scammer out there. I've run into one who required a $500 deposit before he would remove the module & take a pic of it.
