replaced ignition switch but key still sticks in start & cranks no start
anyone that can help please! tried to start one day and key seemed to stick in START position engine cranks like normal but wont ed fire. Since key wanted to seemed like it wanted to stick in start position thought ok well ignition switch is bad ....pulled and replaced with new one and till does exact same thing.....ANYONE HAVE SIMILAR ISSUE ? could it be a crank position sensor ? starter issue ? fuse ?any help would be greatly appreciated ..... I 've already done sticky key mod a couple of years ago and no problem till this uggghhh!!!
I've been a member here for 14 years, I've owned three Roadsters, NEVER heard of a key "sticking" in the start position.
Generally, a bad crank sensor will work fine with a cold engine, but not when engine is hot - so I'm doubting the CPS is the issue.
I'd verify that fuse 11 is ok (fuses the plugs/coils) and then I'd measure fuel pressure at the rail and if you have 58psi +/- 3, I'd check to see if the plugs are really firing and go from there.

hey thanks so pizzaguy im gonna check fuse fix now'; not sure how to measure fuel pressure , so to check for spark just pull a plug and place it on something or somewhere that i can visually see bottom of plug? ill let ya kno if fuse fix works , hey thnx again pizzaguy . if it works im buying you a pizza, seriously
I doubt the actual ignition switch is sticking. I think the pulse module is keeping the starter turning waiting for the engine to fire. James+

Super easy. Or, you can guess and ask on a zillion forums, where everyone will give you their guess (most who post on these tech help threads do not actually work on their own cars, they only pretend to know, keep that in mind).
I like the OTC kits, I have the 5630 I linked to, it diagnosed my Ranger's bad pump in just a few minutes.
hey tried fuse replacement and still no start ....im reading your reply on fuel pressure monitoring ...leme read and get back to ya , again thank you sir!
i believe your rite sir....not that it actually sticks but feels different when starting as stater keeps working but you can still turn key positioning back
ok off to gotcha sir off to buddies house to track down a pressure gauge or to harbor freight in the event he hasn't got one Thanks !!
Hey anyone that could possibly help please do do it would be appreciated ....so me and my mechanic friend ascertained its not a fuel issue , lines have ample pressure and fuel coming out and we even sprayed starter fluid into intakes and it would just continue cranking over when key was turned.....my next step to try and figure out is to hook a scan gun to car and see if i can get a code to help identify I also was gonna replace Crank position sensor as I got one online fairly inexpensive ,,,,,does anyone have any suggestions ? was a also wondering if this possible could be a broken trimming chain or belt not sure as im not sure what these come with.....
You have not confirmed you have spark to the plugs. If I missed it and you do have spark going to plugs, next up would be a compression test. James
