Airbag light randomly came on, not sure when because the cars been sitting for a good while but know it wasnt on before. Tried to reset the codes with my cheap auto scanner it said successful, (No idea if it was, or even is compatible with the cars system) anyway its still on. Already pulled the airbag module behind the center console going to local junk yard to pull if its there fingers crossed. Just making this post for documentation purposes.
You can not yank the module from another car without using the STAR or Emulator PC to initialize it. Also, 04-06s use one module, the 07-08s use another.
Pull the fuse (#3) for the airbag light and forget it.
Mine is an 07, I simply pulled the fuse after finally finding out that my module is not the same as the 05's that a lady sent me for free (she was nice enough to send me one from her junked car for free, in return for work I did for her.)
If you sell the car, simply be honest and tell the buyer that the airbags are disabled and if they want them to work, they can spend the $2300 at a dealer to get them fixed. (Assuming the dealer can get a module, which I'm pretty sure they can't.)

Thanks for the reply pizza, as far as initializing what device would I need to purchase could I get away with something like this? I seen a youtube video of the same unit being used to trouble shoot the air bag system on our cars.
Also the module I pulled was from the same year car thanks for the solution but I'm uncomfortable at this point driving such a small car without air bags gotta figure this one out. I did not know the units needed to be initialized as I've read a couple other posts where people just plug and play. I guess now I need to learn how the air bag system actually functions trying to find it in the service manual and start testing.
Bad news, got the junkyard unit and replaced.. lights still on any ideas?
Did the air bags deploy on the junkyard car you got the module from? If so, then you never had a chance that it would work. I believe only a new module needs to be initialized not a used one. If you get a used module from a used car that didn't have an airbag deploy then you can just plug and play.

Appreciate the info no the junkyard car I pulled from was not deployed I'm guessing the problem lies else where I'm trying to find the page in the service manual that shows how the system operates and its components but its seems like its not the module

Until you can see what the exact code is then you are just throwing parts at it. It could also be airbag in the steering wheel etc. It is also possible the part from the junkyard is defective, those modules go bad for no reason sometimes.

Yeah I've pretty much came to that conclusion as well thanks for the info! Looks like im off to buy a scanner that does the SRS codes.
Took to my buddy’s shop up the road, this is the codes his snap on unit read off the srs he cleared the codes and it didn’t come back! Hopefully stays this way thanks every one.
