Top inoperable - where to start?
2005 SRT roadster, switch that operates the top is powered. When you press it, the indicator light on the switch blinks but no action from the top itself.
I find it hard to imagine that both lifts failed at the same time so am thinking it is somewhere else. Of course it is unlatched.
What should I be looking at?

I know that's a long read, so If you don't want to take the time to learn how things work, don't waste your time on trying to fix it - there are several individuals in the Crossfire community who work on cars part-time. Zach in South Carolina would be a candidate for you.
I once spent HOURS a week here, helping people with their tops (and other issues) but after fourteen years of people being lazy and not wanting to learn (they want ME to diagnose their car free), I have found more fun things to do. All the information is here, but it's no longer free, you must put in the time and effort to learn.
Wow. Did not expect that as a reply.
Of course I am interested in educating myself in how the top works.
THAT’S WHY I POSTED THE QUESTION!
I do not have a starting point. That is what I am looking for, based on the singular symptom I have - that the top quit working suddenly and I have a blinking light on the switch. I was hoping that maybe someone out there may have had the same issue.
I am not lazy. I have built 2 cars in the past because I was familiar with the process. I am NOT familiar with how a convertible top works on a car like this, but I can educate myself based on your eloquent answer above.
However, if anyone out there has encountered what I am encountering I would be very, very interested in hearing what you found.

Thanks James1549.
The trunk divider. What position should it be in? Maybe that’s it…something not in the right place. Makes sense.
I have also reviewed YouTube videos and saw reference to a spring in the tailgate…sorry, not familiar with this at all, still reeling from that response earlier.
It is acting like something is not where it is supposed to be, so if the trunk divider might be suspect then what position should it be? If I open the trunk the shelf is forward and the trunk is all there. If that is what you mean, then yes it is.
Thank you.

Watch the Youtube videos by Top Hydraulics They will also show you how to manually operate the top until you can get it fixed. I'll try to send you the link by email or private message I can't post it here

I apologize, been a bad day.
Here is the easy way to figure things out:
1) Read the thread I posted so you understand how the top works.
2) The top won't go down, got it. Will it go UP?
The answer to question 2 tells you, to a LARGE extent, where your issue is. Put the top down manually, with the engine running so the PTCM sees what you are doing, then hit the button to raise it - if it goes UP but not DOWN, it's either the divider switch or the top open switch over the passengers' head - PERIOD, it can't be ANYTHING ELSE. The thread I pointed you to SHOWS you where these sensors are and how they operate. (If the top won't go up either, that is another matter and not as easy [usually] to diagnose.)
In any event, no one should be driving a Roadster (or at least, drive one with the top down), without knowing how to move the top manually. Also, if the top tool is in the trunk you better move it into the passenger cabin. NOW.
To understand how to put the top down so the PTCM understands you did so, watch this:

Thank you all for your thoughts on this. When I have access to the car will check these things out, starting with the divider position and then lowering manually the top with engine running and then trying to raise it with the switch. I have watched several videos snd will read through the detailed information above,
I really appreciate it and will let you know the outcome good or bad. Thanks again.
One other note - when I unlatch the D-ring the windows do drop down.
