New Crossfire owner - lost power HELPPPP
Hey Everyone,
Newbie here, loved the Crossfire for years so went and got a very well looked after 2005 V6 a few weeks back. One of the best looking inside and out that I had seen.
Three weeks in and I had been driving about an hour, went over a bump and all the lights came on and the car lost power. Managed to get it into a lay-by, wouldn't start but when the key was turned every light came on, heating, radio etc and the fan every now and then would go super fast. After an hour or so it cooled down and started again but when recovery came and i drove it onto the trailer it died again.
I had no warning lights and still don't, there was no bang or anything noticeable out of place, no smoke or smells.
Got the car back today and had diagnostics done on it, not many garages work on these cars now a days so I am doing as much research as I can to see if its something that I can work on from home.
Car started up fine again this morning, no warning lights etc, I did not drive it though as I am worried whatever the issue is will still be there and it will breakdown, the diagnostics seemed first good step.
Error codes were:
IC- 1040-0000 No CAN comms with PCN
ESP - 1178-400 / 1174-400 / 1038-274 / 1022-274
TMC - 2311 - P0600 Engine can message missing
TMC - 2312 - P0600 engine cam message missing
I have seen some mentions of similar issues saying it could be the RCM needs re-soldering, am basically here for the pros as from the looks of the forum you lot know more than the garages....
Any help would be massively appreciated
Also just to add, checked all fuses (all ok), battery connections are solid and no movement, fan belt fine, yes it had a tank of fuel and coolant and no leaks of any sorts. Also I think going over the bump loosened something maybe,
Thanks in advance - all I want to do is drive her

Welcome to the forum.
You might want to look at the CPS- Crankshaft position sensor. Most of us carry a spare (Bosch only) and the symptoms you describe are often related to a CPS when they get hot. There's a lot of experienced people on the forum and I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts.
Again welcome.

There are three things that could cause what describe the RCM, ,,the CAM SENSER and the CRANK SENSOR these are easy to change with little cost
besides if it is not these you U need to keep them as spares. jim

I would guess it's the RCM (Relay Control Module).
They are known to have bad solder joints. That jolt from the bump, may have broken the connection.
You can get one from amazon for a good price, or if you have a friend with a Crossfire, you can swap that one and see if the car starts.
If you don't know what the RCM or how to replace it, check out my post or go on you tube.

Really appreciate all the help, I’ve got a soldering iron and the cam and crank sensors to replace, not sure where these two go yet I’m going to have a look at some YouTube videos unless anyone has a forum link? Honestly been a massive help. Probably a random thing to add but my front headlight went out last week too and the read brake light a day or two later, the rear brake light I was going to get done the day she broke so it’s still not replaced - wouldn’t have anything to do with anything would it? Sure it wouldn’t but worth a mention as these cars seem quite complex in their own way

Just an FYI (I am pretty sure you have already read this though), Only use BOSCH cam and crank sensors. Using anything else will compound any problem you already have. GLW your Crossfire!
.
I would advise U to send your RCM to tighed1 ,,look under TSBs and How-To Articles read it u will see that even members with electronics background
don't have a jij set up to check the relays so as i said before buy a new one send your old one to tighed1 for repair install your new bosch sensors,
then get a spare set for next time those 3 things keep this car moving. jim
