Default Radio causes parasitic battery draw

The mechanic removed my radio fuse to stop it from draining the battery. Note the radio works fine.

The stereo shop told me it is a sign the radio is kaput and can not be fixed. I am skeptical.

I am preparing to sell my car and all i want is for the radio to work and not drain the battery. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Do you know what number fuse it is? If it's number 9, that is most likely the alarm siren. You can just remove that. I have a post about that if you need help.

If it is the radio, then RJNeal is correct, your best solution is to replace it with the Kenwood. I asked about refurbishing my original, there's a Becker repair place 10 miles from me. They told me around $300 to refurbish $350 - $400.00 if I wanted to add blue tooth.
You can ask Crutchfield to make you an adapter so that there is no splicing (plug & play). Mine was $24.00 extra, but well worth it.
Here's what mine looks like. (The pictures are from a post I did when I installed mine).

These factory radios are available, I've got three. Each of mine has a problem, the one that works 100% is worn looking. But, I have one that looks great, but has a backlight issue. The other, the buttons across the top don't work.

None of mine drain the battery, and are not currently for sale.
