Crossfire SRT6 died at stop light and now will not start.
I have a 2005 Chyrsler Crossfire SRT6 convertible. I was driving it and stopped at a stop light. The car just died all of a sudden. Put the car in park and tried starting it and it would not turn over at all. It doesn't even try to click the Starter or anything. It does turn the dash on and starts the cooling fans and some engine components but won't turn over at all. Is this an ignition problem? Please help, thanks!!
Re: Crossfire SRT6 died at stop light and now will not start.
Let it rest for a couple of hours, if it starts then ,,then it is the crank sensor other just swap out your RCM
we have been preaching for over 20 years """" keep a spare RCM ,crank sensor, cam sensor
and tools to change the sensors next would be disconnect the batt (drain the capacitors, by pumping the brake
peddle with batt disconnected) then reconnect the batt and try again.jim
Re: Crossfire SRT6 died at stop light and now will not start.
It has sat for days. Still wont try to start when you turn the key at all. All lights turn on and radiator fan starts slow and they runs very fast. RCM would cause that?

the rcm is the blood of the crossfire so YES the rcm will do that ,go to the first page of crossfire.org and go down to TSA and how to then open that go down to RCM ,,,,,,,,relay control module also look up sensors.
Re: Crossfire SRT6 died at stop light and now will not start.
I got it pulled out but nothing looks bad like the thread you told me to reference in the how to. The air pump relay has some black spots but that shouldn't matter for it to not start right? Other ideas?
Re: Crossfire SRT6 died at stop light and now will not start.
Yes it does look good <<<<BUT>>>> members have had new ones fail due to cold solder. I know the thread is long
I hope you read the whole thing,, if you can find a crossfire owner that would let you try his you could be sure yours is good..
that is why we all carry a spare.
at Mercedes it is called K-40 for the crossfire it is RCM
tighed1 is the expert on the rcm ,, if you have time to send yours to him
or pick up a spare for yourself,
Just though of something else the ground make sure they are grounded this would make it die
yet the lights would still work.
Re: Crossfire SRT6 died at stop light and now will not start.
I would change it. Worst case scenario, you know have a spare. If it starts, send the old one to DJ for rebuild and keep it as a spare. I would also check the battery voltage and connections at both ends.
Re: Crossfire SRT6 died at stop light and now will not start.
sorry the video shows what to do but I would not trust it for anyone to do except Dj ,,their are members with electrical degrees on this form
and yet they send their rcm to Dj. for repair as do 98% of the members because he knows what he is doing, he bench test and repairs them 100% the rcm is where i would start,,,
Re: Crossfire SRT6 died at stop light and now will not start.
What brand is the best to replace it with? Also what member is DJ? Thanks again for all the assistance. I'll read through the rcm forum more as well. I may replace the crankshaft sensor as well if anyone recommends a certain brand.
Re: Crossfire SRT6 died at stop light and now will not start.
Only use Bosch for the Crank Position Sensor. DJ is DJ TIGHE at tighted1@hotmail.com. Many order their RCMs from Amazon. It is the same as one for a 2004 Mercedes SLK320.

DJ's is my primary, that one in the picture is my spare. When I get some extra cash, I'm going to send that new one out to DJ to have the me so horny mod added and so that he can make sure it's good to go.
