For comparison, my 'Lude has 10.0:1 compression and the blower is running 8 psi at max boost. So that would pretty much mean that the SRT-6 blower & PCM software are not simply a bolt-on mod. You're either going to have to lower the compression ($$$) or slow that blower down by about half.

The fabbing is the easy part and there is tons of room for a FMIC! They sell the head unit alone for imports. When you refer to boost as a bar > is that just another term???
If the SRT motor and stock crossfire motor are the same excluding the injectors and tuning > it would be a piece of cake to put a procharger on that bad boy! There is also a STS turbo system that would hook up very easy! The BIG question is in the ECU and injectors! Anyone know for sure?

the motors are completely different. srt6 motors are hand built amg motors, very strong, every piece is pretty much different. i don't know what injectors we have and you would need some sort of ecu upgrade. i bar is a measurement of boost, 14.6 psi or something around there. ecu and injectors are really a minimal cost compared to a procharger, those systems usually run around 5 grand but work very well. i believe the z system puts down 380 whp or so, runs like a high 12. i would assume a similar system on our car would put down 300 whp. i'm looking for about 275 - 325 but just don't want to be the first to plunge and have been waiting for someone else to do something first. i was on of the first people to put a 13bt into a first gen rx7 and its too much work to do something like that or this for the first time and takes too much time and effort. hope you pursue it. i would say at least 50 people have claimed they were going to do this and nothing ever came of it. the only really knowledgeable person tech wise around here is hddp, others will speak, but don't know what they are talking about (sorta like me). hope it works out for you.
oh yeah, sts would work too. but that is alot of custom work with the exhaust and manifold and all that. the boost is higher since the procharger only runs at 7 psi it would be much safer.
The srt 6 crossfire has a diff ECU, injectors, and bottom end. Its a forged crank and different pistons, for the 8 to 1 compression. I checked into tuning your computer for a supercharger, the stock computer can be changed but it must be done from a shop, like renntech ect. It has a v chip so you must have it flashed. The crossfire's drivetrain can handle 400 foot pounds torque with no mods, also information i got from renntech. I'm really looking into a custom rear mounted turbo system. I talked to STS they gave me a number to a guy in texas who can fab the pipes from the turbo to the intake. The rear mount would be simple they said since we have that kind of Y pipe in the back. The system would be around 4 grand, and put out about 1 bar aka 14.5 pounds of boost. AEM management system also can be used for your tuning and the tps sensor from the srt6 for the boost so it can read it right. They said, over all about 340 - 350 hp to the wheels, but that's an est. They said, definitely not under 300 to whp.
Why don't we all just go out and find wrecked SL or CL 55 AMGs and swap engines? There is a huge wreck yard near my house that holds cars for DOT crash investigations. I am always on the lookout for a Merc in the crowd.

to me the coolest swap imho would be a hemi swap. that's the only swap i would try and do if i had the time and energy for a swap, and a daily driver.

It may not be the tps maybe its the mass air flow i think its the tps though for reading boost, there different in boosted cars. I know you have to switch them out on hondas and other cars when providing boost. If not your computer can't compute the air flow ect check it out on line its a long explanation and i don't have that kind of time lol! look into it though and you don't have to run 14 psi you can turn down the psi like on all turbo cars.
TPS = Throttle Position Sensor -- measures how far you have your foot mashed down on the throttle.
MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor -- measures how much vacuum/pressure there is behind the throttle body.

All this talk about boost makes me HAPPY!

This is a dyno sheet from the T/A I just sold! That was only 8 psi of boost on a LS1. I think the STS is the way to go. With a boost controller you can go mean or lean!!! That would be one heck of a sleeper! You would not have to tear anything up under the hood either > well very little that is.

Kleemans supercharger is a bolt on with 7 lbs boast and gives you 330 hp with-out their chip which makes it 350 hp. They have done many SLKs with which we share the power train and as of this Spring they say that they have had zero engine failures. The Xfire engine can handle 400 continuous ft lbs torque they say and we are no where near that now. According to Kleemans, the MB engine is built to withstand much more than we give it credit for and that includes the 6 speed power train.
They offer warranty also.
It all comes down to $ and a road trip.
Note: The SRT supercharger is NOT a bolt on to our regular Xfires, it has more internal changes and you would also need a new wiring harness from what I have heard.
Still waiting to hear of someone who steps up with the $ and tries the Kleeman unit.
Just think, the looks of a stock Xfire that goes like stink!
