Default Rear view mirror dismounted and button stuck in it

2005 SRT6 rear view mirror fell off, seriously. When it fell off it took the little button on the windshield with it, which is now stuck inside the top of the mirror - see pics.
Would you know how this mirror button can release from the top of the mirror housing?

Are you are referring to this hole? There was nothing in it to start with, it is used to remove the mirror from the base which remains on the windshield. You need to separate the base from the inner component that fills the bottom of the mirror and the body that the mirror is mounted on. Use search, the service manual or search on Google about the separation. You will have to reattach the base to the WS after that.

Thank you.
i was able to remove the mounting button by twisting it a bit and it pulled. Now I need to reattach it to the windshield.
I’m leaning towards clear JB Weld but wondering what windshield replacement shops use.

Permatex makes a rear view mirror attachment kit which contains all you need to do a good job.
Loctite makes a similar kit I believe. Look on Amazon they list a few kits I’m sure.

Whatever brand that you use, make SURE you have both surfaces completely clean of the prior fastener. Also, be sure to have the mount positioned correctly (in case it is supposed to be in a certain direction relative to horizontal).. Let us know how it works out? Good luck!

It worked out just fine, clear JB Weld. Applied after thorough cleaning and let it sit 24 hours, mirror twisted on just fine,
thanks and have a great day!
