Default Noise from the rear!

Hi All,

In the last couple of days I have noticed a hissing sound from the top of the boot/trunk. It seems to only happen when I lock and unlock the car using the key.

Its been raining quite abit in the last few days, and wondered if that could have caused anything?

Everything works ok, but just wondered what this could be.

Many Thanks

its probably the airline that goes from the pump in the boot floor to the door locks, listen around the tailgate hinge area there is a rubber boot that goes from the body to the tailgate and the airline goes through that and after a few years of the tailgate opening and shutting it can develop a leak...

Many thanks for the quick reply.

That sounds like the issue. I will have a look abit later. Hopefully I can locate it near the top and not needing to pull everything apart........im not that technically minded so hope it will be an easy enough fix.

Thanks again

Hi All,

Now it seems that I have a bigger problem than yesterday.

I took the car to my local garage to take a look at the hose.............but the boot wont open at all now. Cant hear it locking and unlocking, but I can hear the hissing noise still.

How do I open the boot to fix the hose issue?

Thank you

did a quick search using the search button at the top of the page, type coupe trunk lid wont open....came up with this, looks like someone is going to have to climb in through the cabin and remove the trim panel from the rear hatch to activate the lock... when you get it open you have to do the repair to the pipe before closing the hatch or it will jam again.....best of luck...chris

Re: '04 Coupe Liftgate lock failure

Ok this is how its done my padawans-

remove rear plastic lower panel there will be 1 screw that needs to be removed, that is located where the rear hatch handle is-

slowley pull off the panel , it has 6 clips to hold in place - but comes off nice-

There is a small open area on the Left hand side of the latch (Uper Left)
press down with a flat head screw driver-

you will feel the trunk release and thats it-
However i am still unable to get the device to completly unlock, so when i shut my trunk again it locks, but i was able to get it to open

If your slim you should fit fine, If your a Big Guy you might sweet a little.

Thank you, I actually came across this when I done a search just a sec ago.

This might be abit awkward as I have my golf trolley in the boot which I wont be able to squeeze between the seats. However, I also read that by removing one of the number plate lights you can release the boot that way also, so will give that ago 1st.

Thanks again,
