Finally Lowered my Car
Code:
by patpu; have any of you that have lowered your cars had the alignment adjusted afterwards?
I can't speak for others but I did need to have my alignment done after the H&R Sports were installed. I also had to get a KMAC kit because the shop could not adjust the camber back anywhere close to stock settings.
In fact I think I have pictures somewhere I took of the rears sitting on the ground where the outer edges of both tires were not making contact at all before the KMAC was installed. I know the H & R Sports are lower than the Eibach's so maybe that is why I needed the alignment?
Right now I have the stock wheels on without spacers until the weather improves for sure. Hope this helps.
Stay safe...
Respectfully,
Paul (MisterTaz)
Thanks guys. According to the shop I talked to they will have to do an alignment? My son concurs on this. Now I'm trying to decide whether to let Sean do it ( the springs) or the shop that does my wheels. Thanks again for the responses FP and Taz.
Yep, I got two different opinions too. One told me I had to, and the other (the Benz mechanic) said it is not always necessary.
When I lowered my car, the toe changed to toed out too much and I burned up a new set of tires pretty quickly. You can probably get away with the camber being off as long as you can get the toe right. I went ahead and installed the K-Mac kit and the camber bolts for the front from the dealer. My car is now low and aligned to factory specs.

What is the rule when it come to safety... How man threads do your lug bolts need to be locked in?

All,
For those interested in Tony's (TVT Design) suggested ideal Koni/Eibach/pad combo, see this forum, page 3, 20th post from top titled "Eibachs, Konis and the proper pads"... Post is wrt SRT, but I did manage to get the N/A Limited Roadster addressed (I think).

When setting up my old cobra suspension, the eibach prokit doesn't drop it enough to require any special kind of alignment extras(parts). But I went all out, with the H&R SS, which was very close to 2" in front, and 1.75 in the rear. tokico illumina adj. shocks and struts. Maximum motorsports caster camber plates. Due to the drop up front, my ball joints went south in a hurry. Swapped out the tie rod endlinks, and balljoints, with aftermarket ones. I also went with a front sway bar twice the size of the original. The car would definately handle beyond my driving skills, when cornering it just stuck to the road amazingly. however anything taller than a pack of smokes, would not clear under the car, found that out driving over a turtle, scared the crap out of me, but sent turtle pieces flying out from under the rear of the car. Sorry about the long post on a different vehicle, but I feel the same applies here as well. chris
I lowered my SRT-6 with the Eibach Pro Kit and Koni shocks. I used the 5 dot pad in the front and 1 dot in the rear. The rear dropped 1 1/2 inches and the front 1/2 inch. The front just barely rubs in some situations but I have 4mm taller tires than stock. The rear has room to go lower. My front camber stayed the same. I don't know about the toe. The rear camber changed. Oh, I used the pads Tony suggested in that thread, he was right on the money.

Yeah it took me a couple of tries to get the spacers and lug bolts right, i am definitely a cut twice first kind of guy though.
I have mine on H&R's. and TSW wheels, with Spacers. i never cut the bump stops, and am sorry i didn't.
I will when i get my set of Bilstein shocks.
Thanks,
Justin
