Just curious if you considered a 19/20 package.
I went with those for my milleniums and like the size difference.
Just wondered if you considered that option.

I do love the 19/20 look, it's an eye-popper

If so did you have any problems during the install. The people around here have no clue so I would like as painless an installation as possible.

I ordered mine mounted/balanced with hankooks on them, pulled the jack out and did them all real quick, no issues/anything special. Would recommend a 235 up front vs the stock width though. If you are getting rubber separate/local just make sure the shop you go to can mount/balance the 19" some smaller shops may not have a big enough machine to do the job but that is probably pretty rare.

As Airscape mentioned, you can order them mounted and balanced if you prefer. If you have a local Discount Tire, it's sometimes best to let them handle the tire installation as you can have a "support group" handy should anything go wrong with one of your tires. They are generally excellent about looking out for their customers.

This is not an issue up front, the tire will look a bit stretched though, in back I am not sure, someone else may need to chime in. 285 is perfect for this setup, I think 9.5 may be the maximum rim width for a 255 so you will be stretched pretty far. Best to ask the place you are getting it done. You can check the first page for my pics, the last one is the 285, pretty much perfect flush with the rim and slight protection, a couple up you can see the front 225 is stretched a bit and does not provide much protection. I havnt had either touch a curb yet (park on a street at work daily) but just something to be mindfull of as well, 255 will not give you much buffer in the back. Personally if you can swing it I'd get rubber as well, if you have PS2s or something like that they should be pretty easy to sell here. Again someone more knowledgable may be able to give you a better opinion than I.

Finally happened, hit the curb this morning. Was too pissed to really take a look at it but I can't stand rash so they will need to be fixed. Anyone know of these are clear coated? I can probably do the sanding and polish myself but not sure if it is worth it if they will need to be coated again, may just get a shop to do it. Thanks!

At this point I can probably call the mobile wheel repair guy and get it done for 100ish or pick up some 3000grit and a can of wheel clear and see how good I can get it matched up. It doesn't look bad currently and definitely better than the rash, the shine is just not uniform.

Will post results this weekend. If yours are not deep and at the edge, a careful light sanding right on the rash followed by a good polish/wax will probably be unnoticeable the edge is the most uniform as far as the shine goes and you can't tell, it's the flat part of the lip that is the problem. I feel like such a jackass but to my credit I park on the street every day and pull up to the curb at least twice on average at work so 1 mistake out of a couple thousand tries isn't too bad. When I did it I did it big though
Sorry I have been slacking on the update. I did mess with it that weekend but ran into another issue. First the only wheel clear (duplicolor) that I could find locally did not like to stick to the metal, while this was a problem it was not the main one. I do not think there is a clear coat but instead some sort of shiney covering, paint or otherwise. I sanded and polished the lip to super **** levels and could not get it to look quite as shiney. I'm not sure exactly what it is, some kind of film or paint unless they can magically make it shine brighter than I could after buffing the **** out of it. Once I had it as clean as I could get I just did a coat of wax and have been driving it daily since then.
First I am happy with the results after all is said and done, much much better than the rash. There are basically 2 lines where I stopped sanding on the lip and my polished metal meets the shiney covering. Way less noticeable than rash and even I have to take a second to find them. My thought was that my section would accumulate dust differently than the rest but not the case this far. May be the wax but time will tell. Been out in the rain, through washes and has not dulled or discolored.
I would recommend this route as the cheap fix for sure. If the rash is small and right on the edge careful sanding right on the spot should be basically invisible. If you have to do the flat part of the lip going around the entire thing may be the better option. The border that is created on the curved part of the lip is not noticeable as long as you keep it consistent. Will add pics soon.

Pics
start of rash, goes around almost 180, ill save the pain of showing the whole thing

Low Grit Sanding

More low grit to smoothe out those deep cuts

After a lot more sanding, after first round of high grit

Pretty much done, ready for the paint failure.

Post clear failure strip off, (basically another 3000 grit sanding) metal polish and wax application

Can post some close up pics of seem, can see it on the last pic 3 and 9 o clock. You could probably shape it sharper with some careful sanding so it wouldn't be a strange shape like mine and it would blend with the shine, I sanded way past where the rash ended to try and blend but whatever covering they have on em could not be matched by me no matter how much I polished. Maybe some of the chrome like paint would do. Again I would say just do the whole outer ring, I can do some more close ups if anyone is interested.
