Talking Wheel HELP!!

Hey guys,

Im new to this whole modding car thing, my boyfriend has a set of wheels that I would like to put on my 04' xfire, but im not sure if they will fit. He said he has a different bolt pattern so putting them on would require us to buy adapters to convert the xfire bolt pattern to a 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern. But the adapters are atleast an 1" thick.

He said he doesnt think they will be able to fit on the car because the adapters are to thick and will cause the wheels to rub or extend to far. Is he correct that these will not fit? Do I have any other options? The wheels are 19 x 8 with a +35 offset.

Thanks for any help just trying to see if this is correct or not.

Kristin

You would be pushing the front wheels out app. 1 1/2" inches. Don't think fenders will clear them.
Should be doable in the rear though.

Stock Wheel Data:

FRONT:
18x7.5"
5x112
ET 35 (offset)
225/40/18

REAR:
19x9"
5x112
ET 22 (offset)
255/35/19

This car is for go not just show. Stay away from adapters. There are a lot of nice wheels that fit. Remind your boy that you have a birthday coming up and a good set of wheels would be a nice surprise.

If it's out of gas, why are they looking under the hood?

a lot of 5x114 wheels are for FWD Japanese cars with much higher offsets and lower widths (usually).. even if you could get the adapters to fit everything up, you might just end up looking really silly

The wheels will not fit the front with adapters.
An 8 with a 38 offset with a 1' adapter will mean an effective offset of about 13mm. That is awfully low for the front of our cars. The rear will work fine with the adapters.

If you really love the wheels, consider having them machined to the proper BC. 114.3 to 112 is really easy. Then the front will fit OK (with appropriate centering rings) and a spacer (15-20mm) can be used on the rear.

OR...

Contact the manufacturer of the wheel. There may be enough room in the lug/bolt bore to allow for the use of a flex bolt. (also sometimes called wobble bolts) I routinely use these to fit 5x108 wheels on 5x110 cars, but those wheels are designed to accommodate the different BCs.
A spacer and longer bolts will still be necessary for the rear.

A good portion of American cars use 5x114.3 as well...(as does the Ferrari 458 Italia <- I know this only because I really like these)
