Batteries in the sensors maybe need changing.

If only you could.. they are a sealed unit that requires replacement. Estimated life of battery is 10 yrs.

They have cloneable ID versions.. which your current ID is read and programmed into (most large tire chanins) .. then there are the one's that the dealer (DRBIII) initializes with a magnet and do a learning procedure for the cars computer.

You may be right.

Guess I should buy four and get them programmed at a big-box store, i. e., Discount, NTB, something like that...

Through Discount Tires, they ordered OEM sensors for my Crossfire from the Chrysler Dealer. Of course Discount was unable to program the sensors so I had to take the car to the Dealer so the sensors could be programmed. Prior to that, Discount had tried two different after market sensors and was unable to program them and the Dealer wasn't able to also.

Schrader is now making a programmable ID sensor. Personally I would be calling tire shops and see what they can offer...Then take that information and web search for a price on them. Discount tire told me "Sure we can program them no problem". Didn't even look at the sensors I brought in. I was getting my tires mounted to my new wheels.. and when done "oh..we couldn't program those". They use Snap on programming tool. Seems the Bartek system is the most popular and versatile one. These fortunately were freebies from a company wanting me to test them out. Should find out Monday just what is required on them. Most likely a trip to the dealer.
