What did you do to your Crossfire today?
Re: What did you do to your Crossfire today?
I have not bypassed anything on the BCM. The tablet is communicating with arduino via bluetooth. The arduino has an i2c bus where I have a couple of other arduinos hooked up as well as two temperature/humidity/barometric pressure sensors, capacitive sensors as well as a real time clock. The buttons that were replaced are controlled through relays. The response time is nearly instant and does not appear to cause any problems. Since the air conditioner mostly runs on 3 4.7K potetiometers (the two temperature set points and the blower speed), I also plan to add 3 digital potetiometers to have the climate control go through the tablet as well so you can set an exact temperature (which is why the two temperature sensors are hooked in). I also plan to use the temperature sensors for things such as automatically turning the heated seats when the car starts when it is cold out. In the next version of the application when I finish it, I plan to have climate control, complete control of all of the lights in the car (including the headlights and taillights I am still in the process of building), control of the automatic wiper controller I have installed, the ability to adjust the intermittent speed on the wipers (always something that bugged me) and more. This is an ongoing project I have been working on in my free time.
on the side of this side project, I am also in the process of building new circuit boards for media controls for a steering wheel I found that I like so it can work with my installation, It is a flat bottomed Antarctica suede steering wheel of a 2016 Audi S6 and I am going to try to retrofit it for the crossfire. My biggest worry is the airbag playing nice. Everything else seems like it is going to work out. I am not sure of the keying of the steering wheel shaft but I think I can machine something that will work if it does not fit properly

I think the secret is to expose plastic that has not oxidized and polish it. This is done by using coarse grits to get under the oxidized layer and slowly reducing the grit size until a nice polished surface is obtained.

I used a brass polish on a set of headlights a couple of times some years back, they looked great for a while then in two or three months they went back to what they were before.

Here's the Clear Coat product used in the video:

It’s odd to see the brakes and battery reversed. Cool but odd

[QUOTE=ala_xfire;897314]Dave, I found that if you hit those heat control valve housings with a couple of coats of Kilz, then you can paint them pretty red too
Geez it never ends .. thanks for the tip,
I will get right on it !
Ps what is 'Killz' ? cant i just wax and grease clean ,prime an paint them ?

Re: What did you do to your Crossfire today?
Kilz is common here in the states, painters use it as a prep coat even in houses.
It sticks to anything with little or no prep and makes the final color coat look much better.
I tried even bead blasting those heat control caps, paint still wouldn't stick until I spied that spray can of Kilz up on the shelf. 2 coats of that, then 2 coats of red caliper paint and I was in business

KILZ ORIGINAL Aerosol blocks most stains including water, smoke, tannin, ink, pencil, felt marker, grease and seals pet, smoke and food odors. Use on interior surfaces including drywall, plaster, paneling, wallpaper, wood, masonry, brick, painted metal and properly prepared glossy surfaces. Ideal for spot priming and direct application to furniture, molding, baseboards, door jambs and frames and other projects where a "focused application" is desired instead of a large flat surface. KILZ Original is not recommended on flooring unless used as a subcoat to new carpet or hard flooring.Original may be topcoated with latex or oil-based paint.

Re: What did you do to your Crossfire today?
I went to a good friends house whom which I am buying this from in the Spring
I hooked up a battery tender and did a pre storage detail to the Roadster
It will remain garaged until Spring when I purchase it and bring it home
I had the opportunity to have it for the weekend last month and took a few pics
This is one of my favorites below
I'm selling my Coupe in the Spring too
I've owned my Coupe 10 for years now (shown in my signature below)

Today the newly painted gloss black grill is on .i am very pleased with the look .
the vertical bars look more pronounced with the black all glossy and no silver horizontal bars
and one more , my oem srt-6 badge is back on , that naff aftermarket srt6 badge i had on it is in the trash! amg badge stays. thinking of Tinting the lights soon.
It is what it is.

Re: What did you do to your Crossfire today?
Ok Today i removed the amg and srt-6 badges and put a new badge over the chrysler logo .
its a nice Clean look and will probably confuse the xf ignorant masses even more
"Karmann" huh ?
I also got a Red paint pen and painted in the SRT and Needswings letters .
easy peasy paint pen to use , covered in one pass but its supposed to be Red not Pink !
