What did you do to your Crossfire today?
Serpentine Belt. Actually didnt look too bad, but if the filters were any indication of how the previous owner did maintainence, I thought i'd toss one in. AND...my hood shock arrived so i put that in. Still amazed with the 90degree opening to work on the car. Didn't know the hood basically opened itself, until the new shock was in! Silver Blue 6spd Coupe. Annnnd.....Loving it!
The older Audi 5000 sedans had the battery in the trunk...kept some guys from stealing my battery one time!
Yes if you look behind the wheel cover that is where your vent is located one on each side there is a rubber flap that lets air out but none in . anyway there is a vent right next to the batt. jim
Under the hood there is air movement but in a confined spot the explosive and corrosive gases plus leakage can do a lot of damage in a short time.
That's a good idea, batteries in the trunk last a year or so longer due to the cooler temperature.
I was in Beaners car with all the trunk trim out and those flaps wave about like crazy at quite low speeds and sounded like the trunk was full of leaves rustling around.
I am talking about the battery, there should be a plug in one vent hole in the battery and in the other vent hole there should be a small hose leading to the exterior to vent explosive gases and any acid over flow.

Why anyone does not just put it in the corner on the passenger sidew of the car I have no idea. There should be a small enough battery to fit on the bottom. Height should not matter in this situation. There is a vent like described by 180, there is a hole on the bottom for drainage if fluid was ever to get in there (hose from gas filling area drains through, there is a place to either hook on or bolt on a strap...

no one puts the batt on the right side because the air pump and the Electronics that operate the locks along with the vacuum that's in that corner if you put a battery of their the fumes would prove your electronics and your pump, better to stay on the left side(drivers side.) that's why.

Anyways I got the covers painted and installed so I can drive it this weekend. I will be adding black paint to follow the lines through and hopefully it will look better than just solid SSB
I play in a soft rock band...I took the XF to a gig Friday night.
In the boot...
xftrunk.jpg
Bass guitar in soft gig bag.
MarkBass 4x6 speaker cab.
Stand for the cab.
Gig bag with three amp heads/cables.
Room to spare.
Wife in passenger seat

Today, washed, detailed, etc. Bought oil and filter for soon to be oil change
Life is good!

Let my 16 year old Son who's had his learners permit for 2 weeks, drive the SRT6. My knees are still shaking. Just kidding, he did very well.
Removed as much coolant as I could (10 liters) and twice added 8 Liters of distilled water and run her up to temp.
Installed the separation kit and I will drain and add new coolant tomorrow.
Cleaned the belly pan and it looks almost new.
Lost one of the clips that hold the rad in, it flew off and went AWOL.
Edit
I found the clip sitting hidden in open sight, it looked like a clamp on some pipes on the frame, not two feet from where it should be. I knew it did not go far, but I shut my eyes when it flew into the air and I just heard it land.

Drove the hell out of it.
(Just got back from Blood Mountain...
69F - low humidity - beautiful evening)

Used a Mobil 1 filter. (Of questionable quality to some!)
Wet sanded and buffed a few light scratches out with this cool 3" rotary air polisher I bought. Dynabrade.
Scared a number of citizens near the local Toyota dealership when they asked me to "show them what she'll do" on the deserted. private drive there.
They would rather have one of these than the FRZ we were all there to look at.
I do too! I changed the oil (1 year/6200 miles)-still says 2500! I guess I don't flog her enough.

I used the Mobil 1 filter too. I was thinking it would be cool to change just the filter a some point earlier to an oil change....it would be very easy since its a no mess removal!
Detailed some spots too, used clay bar for the first time!
Contacted the previous owner to ask if he did any of the standard mods...no
He offered my 3 quarts of Mobil 1....for free!
Thanks to all on this site!
DJ
I did not know that a clay bar was good for acne.
So that's why it was low on oil when you got the car.
