Default Creaking steering when maneuvering

Hi everyone, my first post on here so here goes , I’ve recently purchased an
04 plate crossfire roadster , the car is great but I’ve noticed a loud creaking noise when turning the steering as I’m manoeuvring, I don’t notice it once in motion . I’m a Diagnostic technician by trade so this is a hard one to swallow ... anyway I’ve had the car up on the ramp at work and checked out all the track control arms etc etc , all looks good , it just passed an MOT last week too . When I turn the steering without weight on it I.E off the ground , its disappeared . I think it might be coming from the steering box
has anyone experienced this because it’s driving me crazy .

Its probably the mice in the engine wanting to go fast down the road, and since it is off the ground they are protesting loudly! Seriously, welcome to the best car forum around! Did you check the wheel bearings for correct tightness? If loose and worn, they might squeak (reference loud mice protesting). Hope you can trace it down!

I didn't think any roadsters were built (sold) in 2004?

The UK uses the date of the first registration as the year, N. America uses the makers model year as cars year.
This has been discussed before many times.

My roadster was built in 04-01-04 and was bought by me on 06-28-2004.

Seriously guys , I’m not really interested when they were designed, built , released etc etc , I just want input and help with any experienced issues.

The answers were not aimed at you, your problem has happened before and is in another thread.
Getting snarky will tend to make any answers few and far between. We attempt to help for free and do not bother to respond to demands, simple words like please and thanks helps.
Try using the search option.

given that you’re a diagnostic tech, you’ve probable already checked so this is a long shot. Easily overlooked. Shocks and springs age and sag over time. Is there a chance that it may have sagged enough to allow the tires to rub inside the wheel well when turning.

I had experienced this with I changed and dropped the suspension. It rubbed every time is was backing out of a spot. Had to crank it up a bit to stop it.

or a broken spring?

Were you ever able to solve the problem? I am having the same issue. I haven’t been able to to find any answers. I have had it checked it out a couple times and then told they have no idea what it is and then have been being referred to the dealer. Which I refuse to go to LOL

Good move ! Stay away from the dealers. If you have checked out all the obvious: broken springs, wheel bearings , no slop in the steering you may want to lubricate the sway bar bushings with silicone grease.
