Default esp-bas code 1330 Wackamole

Have a 2008 limited convertible, bright silver, from Florida, with the esp-bas light on. Getting fault code 1330 BAS solenoid valve circuit. Traced it to page 303 diagnostic test step number 8 of the 2008 Chrysler crossfire service manual. The book calls for a resistance of 23.5k ohms to 24.5k ohms. On the original Controller Anti-lock Brake Module I got a reading of 0.437k ohms which does not fall in range above. Book says replace module. Got module from a 2007 crossfire. Installed it in my 2008. Ran Codes got 1330 again. measured the 2007 module and got 0.438k ohms. Erased codes with StarSCAN and up pops 1330 again. Where do I go from here?

Did have the car storage for 2 years, ran it in garage a few times, every things fine. Was on a battery maintainer the whole time. That's when the Wackamole took over my car in June, esp-bas light on, tpms light on, no start, no crank, ran out of gas, no tpms wheel batteries, weak remote battery, siren shot, 12v battery old, bad relays with good solder. Fixed all that. Changed oil and brake fluid. Added second ground, everything works except esp-bas light still on with fault code 1330.

Hope somebody had the same problem with a fix.
First time here.

Pluged in old RCM, turned key on, and fans wet on, center relay open - engine control, next relay closed - traction control. Next relay horn open and worked. Did not want to start car with old bad RCM. Got new ones from needwings. Need a trunk RCM backup for the road.
Thank you
Ron

Send the bad one to tighed1 (DJ) for rebuild. He does them better than new.

My problem is that I need to fix code 1330. Crossfire 2008 manual states replace Controller Antilock Brake Module. Did that, with one from a 2007 crossfire, still have 1330. Could master power brake short travel cause this? The StarSCAN I have needs to get the air bag reset function loaded and working . Anyone know how to proceed?

I checked the resistance at the C2 BAS Brake Booster as per 5-303 #8 and got 438 ohms between ground ( I used the mounting screw for the fan control module) and the solenoid valve control circuit. It seems the service manual has an error in that final step.

I also checked for voltage on the 5 volt supply with the CAB connected and ignition on and got no voltage or just a very small voltage way down in the mili volt range.

I think my BAS/ESP control system is okay as I have no warning light and no DTC codes.

I ran through the entire test sequence and it all checked okay. There is no resistance when measured between ground and the actual pins on the valve itself nor is there continuity between the two pins.

Hope that will help you. Good Luck.

Thank you ZIP439, The 438 ohm agrees with my numbers I have recorded. Will continue to eliminate possibilities. About to do pages 5-256 to 5-268, And will let you know

Welcome to crossfire wack-a-mole. After various faults called out like diaphragm travel, bad diaphragm and more, the problem is in the brake booster with a 1/4 cup of black brake fluid inside it. That means the master cylinder was leaking brake fluid into the booster chamber, possibly contaminating the brake booster solenoid valve or the travel sensor. To look at the brake area under the hood you think nothing is wrong. Replaced the master cylinder and booster assembly with an 2007 from a recycler. Code 1330 is gone for now. Great!

On to the next problem. This code U3F00 was hard to find out. This may be a SKREEM airbag code. One scan reader displayed "Driver knee squib circuit short". After many tries found that the connector to the Occupant Restraint Controller had an internal 1.5 Ohm short between pin sockets numbers 45 and 46 . These two wires go to the driver knee squib. I hooked a 9 volt battery at the squib end to try to free the cross connection but this only dropped the resistance to 0.5 Ohms. It should show an open. Now still get code U3F00. Will now try to remove number 45 or 46 from the ORC connector. Both the ORC connector and the Squib connector were disconnected at the time. Now will run a single pin socket with a wire through the connector to hook up with the squib wire. The plan is to assemble one pin socket over the right number pin with enough room for the connetor to slide over this single pin/socket. Not much wiggle room, but should disconnect the cross socket short. Or replace the whole connector. Can these wires be removed, disassemble Is there something else going on?

On to the second next problems. Got code "ORC 90F5, Stored, Speed Sensor Status Signal Invalid Circuit Low [ZH]" Did roll car and all four wheel signaled rotation, therefore the speed sensors are working. Where to go from here? is there a fifth speed sensor like for cruse control that is not working

On to the third next problems. Got code "ORC 90FA, Stored, Airbag OFF Warning indicator Circuit Low [ZH]" This fault started when I removed ash tray with the "passenger airbag light" disconnected with the ignition on to move the gear lever. (Many of the Videos don't tell you to remove the battery cable all the time.) The 2008 Crossfire has an airbag off/on switch for the passenger seat. Later tried to reset the 90FA with airbag set on and off, nothing reset. The "passenger airbag light" does light up, means good bulb and 12 volts to circuit.

For codes I use the StarScan, Autel MaxiCOM MK808 TS and ICarsoft MB with various results. Maybe stored codes can be erased but my equipment will not do it. My mechanic has a Snap-On code reader, might this do it?

Today found the wires to thew ORS controller are OK. That means the solution to fixing code U3F00 is now unknown. Also found that the speed sensor come from wheels to the antilock brakes to body control module to the occupant restraint system. Good thing its Winter, no place to go.

ORC 90F5 =B10F3 if not active stored codes could be intermittent (corroded, pinched, chafed wiring)

from 2008 service manual: Measure the resistance of the wheel speed signal circuit between the ORC harness connector and the CAB harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
YES >> Replace the ORC
NO >> Repair the wheel speed sensor signal circuit for a open.

ORC 90FA = B10FA

check fuse #3, 5 amps
single wire PK/YL/DR from there to Airbag Off Light
single Black wire from Airbag Off Light to connector pin 77 at ORC

The air bag light is finally out. Kept clearing the codes in the ORC over and over, some how it woke up, I guess if you hit the mole with a stick enough it does something.

No more Air Bag Light and no more BAS/ESP.

Cured codes 1330, B10FA and B10F3. Don't know about code U3F00.

Here is some of what was checked. Both wheel speed sensor wires from CAB to ORC were good. All four wheels speed sensors are good. Passenger air bag turned/off/light then lit up. Wires for the driver side squib good. Could not find anything to fix. Did replace master cylinder and booster (used ones) to fix the code1330.

Just found out that when you pull out the ORC connector, some of the paired wires are shorted to each other. This is why the problem with my #8 (permalink) described a short between #45 and #46 wires. if you cut a 3/16 strip of plastic from a laundry detergent bottle push them into the slot it opens the switch so you can measure for shorts or opens in wire harness. Both end of connectors should be open so you don't sent stray voltage to sensitive electronics.

Thank You zip439 for your support, it kept me headed in the right direction with new ideas.

Now my used master cylinder refuses to move fluid to bleed the brakes. Both petal pressing and vacuum at the valve produce no fluid. Bad master cylinder? Missing rod? The brakes seem to work but I can't take it on the road. When starting to pump with engine off the petal did move up a little, the petal is firm. It should move fluid. The master cylinder was primed before installing. rebuilt master cylinders are available.

New Update: When installing the master cylinder I lost the bench top prime hooking up the brake lines. Performed a new bench top prime in the car, hooked up the brake lines, bleed the brakes and now my petal travel is about two inches and firm. Just a guess that air in the master cylinder blocked fluid flow to the wheels.

With regards to code B10FA , found that 2008 manual page 8O-235 step 5 is wrong. My Airbag Off indicator Lamp DID NOT illuminate. Removed the “Load tool ORC 8443-33”. Put every thing back together and turned off the passenger air bag, then the light lit up, nothing wrong with the whole circuit. Not broken.

Going to get a new master cylinder and a rebuilt power booster if I can find one. Better to replace now then 5 years from now, will still have the used units.

Hope to publish soon my method for fixing the low petal fix, do not know if this present fix will continue after I drive in the spring. Hope this will help people with the same problems.

Thank you again zip439

I have found that some DTC after clearing the codes on the scan tool require that the ignition is turn off for 10 seconds then back on before you move the scan tool to the next page or process. If you just clear codes and move to next process the code will remain and not clear.

Thanks for pointing out that error 80-235. I'll make a note in my manual.
