Default Illumination Control Module

Hi.

I'm installing a Jensen display for Android Auto and reverse camera functionality and it wants me to access the illumination control module to tap into the reverse gear signal (pin 3 or 4 on the black 21-pin plug) and the parking brake signal (pin 2 on the black 4-pin plug).

How can I access the illumination module with these 2 black plugs, supposedly in the instrument panel left of the steering wheel?

Also, I don't see in the shop manual a pin on the 21-pin plug for a reverse signal. I know this manual set is fraught with insufficient instruction, but this omission is alarming.

Thanks, Ron

Scrolled through the results of a search on Youtube and it wasn't amongst the hits. Got a specific link?

Thanks, Ron

While you're in there you might want to put a couple of inline fuses between the 2 large power wires. The post I made shows how to disassemble the dash step by step wit pictures. I put in two in line fuses for fire prevention.

You don't have to do this, it's just a suggestion.

ZERACER,thanks so much. This was instrumental in my "head unit" installation. I had no idea the "illumination control module" per Chrysler shop manuals was referring to the headlight switch, lol. FYI, my 2007 driver's underdash has a slightly different plastic shroud.and fastener assembly than seen in the video.

M60A3Driver, thanks for the images. Although I chose to forgo the in-line fusing, the images were useful in confirming what had to be done for my electrical taps into the wiring harness. I also have to acknowledge that the shop manual set, while complicated in pulling information (schematics, tables) from, affirmed everything provided by this thread's contributors. This project wouldn't have happened without y'all!

07-08 cars were altered under the dash - due to federal regulations. The glove box/glove box door is also a different design.
