Sorry if I couldn't give you much info. Been extremely busy. I'll try some of the things you guys gave me. Still gonna take it into the dealer first soon tho.

Thanks again guys.
Dude, it's simple, add a few turns of electrical tape to the latch bar like we've been saying. Your main rattles will be gone and you won't have to deal with the dealership!!

Regarding the taping of the latch: Do I just wrap electircal tape around the horizontal part of the latch?

I read about the "Velcro fix" a year ago when I owned a Limited and it worked great - put the "stiff strip" where shown. (I had already adjusted the stops out as-far-as-possible) When I got my SRT6 - I made the same mod - and it took care of the issue -

I think all XF's must have this issue - never did try the electrical tape - but I would think it would work - not sure how long it would last but who cares - both are a cheap, easy fix to the darn rattle issue...

The tape acts as an insulator, that's it! The TSB for this mod was to replace the latch mechanism with one that has some insulating plastic or rubber on it. The tape does the same thing and will last indefinitely. It only takes 3 minutes to do and I have NO RATTLES anymore. The hatch could be bouncing all over the place, but I don't hear it at all, even over pot holes and speed bumps. If my camera was working, I'd post some pics. You wrap about 4 turns of black electrical tape ($1.00 per roll) around the latch bar. This is the part that is attached to the car, not the hatch. It is a black steel bar that runs fore and aft located in the hole where the hatch latch goes. Open the hatch, you can't miss it!

Hi. I'm the proud new owner of an '05 (Saphire Blue silver) coupe which I picked up recently. I also had the rear hatch rattle problem, and a BIG thanks to this forum for the fix remedy. I used the 2 velcro strips plus the wrap of electrical tape around the latch bar. It's a miracle! No more rattles and a far more enjoyable ride. I've been dreaming about owning a Crossfire for about the last 3 years. The dream is now real. I love this car!

Check your number plate, it might be loose--I had the same problem a while ago...

For a few months the rattle in the back was driving me nuts. Finally, I came on the site and a search led me here. Sure enough, wrapping the latch bar with tape took care of the problem, for which I am very thankful.

Talking Re: Rear noise. Hatch maybe??

Velcro worked on tailgate,
Doesn't work for the other loud screaching noise, the one coming from passenger seat whenever I fill up the car with gas, ooops that's the wife...lol

Exxon changing slogan from put a tiger in your tank
to ""Was it good for you dear"",
they should give a free condom with each purchase as that is what they are doing to us...

Sorry just had to rant after fill -up.

I did the tape on my SSB, about 4 or 5 turns and it is quiet as can be now. I see no wear on it at all after about 6 weeks, so I expect it will last quite some time. Thanks to all.

The black electrical tape worked for me, too. Give it a try.

Thumbs up Re: Rear noise. Hatch maybe??

Honestly, after awhile... and being quite lazy, I just adjusted the stops myself. Pulled them all the way out and tightened them back up and made sure the hatch would close. All fixed now. It's been a little while too since then and still no rattle.

What rattles are you still finding? I have invested buku $$ in my crossfire, and have eliminated all of the rattles. I may be able to help.

While driving mine today I noticed the same noise coming from the rear of the car on the passenger side. It was a windy day. I thought it might be a plastic bag or somthing that got stuck under the car. I looked when I got home and didn't see a thing. It just started at 14,000 miles. Weird.

It has to have something to do with the rear hatch. I'm not hearing it anymore since I've adjusted the stops. I think the rattling and all the noise started at about 7,000 ish for me.

I have a 2007 with just under 7,000 miles on it. It can't be the hatch lock, could it?
I found buffeting and clicking with the windows down. I checked the closing of the hatch and found by lifting with my finger tips under the lip, if it wasn't closed tight there was about 1/8 inch play. Open the hatch and firmly close it and besure there is no play. Solved my problem.
