If the kid was driving a McLaren SLR it would be a different story. I'd be screaming B.S. all over it.
Just my personal perspective - I love my Crossfire, but it has to be one of the best bargains I have ever seen. It's cheap, fast, AND good. It's getting hard to keep that fact a secret. We all want to drive around enjoying how "exclusive" they are and how "expensive" they look, but admit it, they're pretty darn cheap. You can get a base Hyundai for Crossfire money. Don't tell the people you're trying to impress!
When I was 16, I had already earned enough money on my own to buy one of these things cash - and that was in 1974. We were dirt poor and I worked my a$$ off and saved most of it. Spoiled? Sure - I spoiled MYSELF!
I won't tell you that I like everything that Smokey writes, but owning a Crossfire at 16 is not impossible.

I work for Geico and a Claim came accross that made cry. A 17yo "borrowed" his dad's brand new 2007 Lambo Murci LP640 and completly destroyed it. The settlement check was over $400,000.00 and had to be signed by the CEO. The child's reward for this was a new Porsche Twin Turbo so he wouldn't bother the "replacement" 2008 Lambo...
The Policy holder called in the same day to add the new Lambo and Porsche to his policy and listed the child as the primary driver of the Porsche... Geico's Underwriting Dept. promptly dropped the policy...

I think maybe you all took my comment about the class president thing the wrong way. I said that to provide reason why I am not interested in confrontation. I used the term "redneck" too loosely, I suppose. Translation: tight jean, boot-wearin', dippin', truck owners that think they're sports cars kids who hang around after school to see who they can **** off.
I did not buy my car completely on my own and am not at all (nor should I be) ashamed of it. Not that it is necessary for me to prove, I did, however, pay for half of it. For those of you who claim that your class presidents were extremely more qualified than me, I doubt that your class president had a car of this sort or was as meticulous about it as I am, and most other forum-members. Rest assured, I am very assured of myself and am well-liked. My initial shock of crap all over my car was expected. There's a first time for everything, right?
Anyways, I'm not worried about it. I'm just laying low with it and hoping nothing else happens. I wasn't any result of me being cocky or upsetting someone. It was one of those "Oh look there's a nice car, let's spit on it!" things. It'll blow over.

Like NeverEnough stated......I think you should get yourself a $500-$1000 beater and only bring out the 6 when you take all those little hotties out for a dinner and movie and.........

Honestly, what kind of 16 year old can afford the purchase price of a $17,000+ car AND the insurance completely on their own? I know I couldn't 7 years ago.
Your signature says it all by bragging that you are the youngest SRT-6 owner and asking us to prove you wrong... Who says you don't act with the same attitude to your peers at school?
My advice is to keep the cool car for the weekends/prom and buy a beater for the ride to school, or to grin and bear the torment of your peers.

Off my soapbox, nothing personal against you. I just do not like prejudicing people in anyway its how this world got to the place we are today, unfortunately.
This is self-parody - my vehicles in my driveway....(you know, like "Professional Driver on Closed Course - Do Not Attempt"...)
I was thinking this would be the perfect mod...

Think Porsche 959 Rally

I'm from Tennessee also man, I can say that I've definitely experienced the jealousy epidemics. My car was dinged and keyed for no apparent reason. I try to park far from people as I can and hope for the best. Just remember what goes around comes around so stay humble.
I had the same problem in high school.
1. Don't say or do anything. Don't show signs of weakness or intimidation. Don't retaliate. Don't show any form of aggression towards them, verbal, physical, or any subtle form.
2. If your school has security cameras, go to the administration and explain to them the situation.
3. If anything is physically damaged on your car after this, file a police report.
I recently had to do this, even though I'm a sophomore in college now. I haven't seen these ******** since 2 years ago, and they still continue to target me. They recently keyed my crossfire badly. Filed a police report, talked to one of the parents of one of them that lives across the street from me and told them the situation, moved my car to a different, secluded part of the neighborhood. Fixed the paint myself.
Word to the wise, some people never grow out of high school.

Some country-a** SOB threw dip all up on my rear window and roof. Of course, I was P.O.ed major. I peeled out of campus and rushed to the nearest car wash and got it off. It just really bothers me and my biggest fear is WHAT'S NEXT?! How should I handle this?
Although I'm from Tennessee, I'm not country at all. I drive a Crossfire, come on... I just don't know how I should go about this. I'm not at all big or macho, more of the popular student body president type, not to sound conceited or anything. No one knows who did it yet. Ugh. What should I do?!

Sorry Smokey don't take this the wrong way, but at first I agreed with many people that an SRT6 for a 16 year old was a mistake, not because it would mean your spoiled, but because it's a very powerful car. Especially for a 16 year old. You continue to be the exception though. After the conversations we've had I aquired a lot of respect for this kid. When I get another crossfire (3rd at age 24) I won't have any problem with this kid joining us for a g2g.
bigbengt67 you seem to be the one that's jealous. Why don't you just lay off and be happy that someone has had the fortune of owning one of these great cars before they hit 18.
Personally, I think you should find out whoever this person or persons are and beat them within in inch of their life.
It's simple, kids are mean. They do mean **** just to do it. Unless their parents bring them up right (which this sounds like they're not) all they respect is violence.
I have been through 7 different schools that I can remember due to parent moving so much. It was all about making friends then breaking friends. On and on until I was like "What's the point?" Being as small as I was and the "New kid" I got a lot more than dip spit. From all the fights, my parents got me into martial arts for the whole discipline thing. Didn't quite take at the younger ages, but now that I'm older I get it.
Nowadays fighting gets you nowhere, but in a high school setting, you better believe it. Most of these kids are in "cliques" and if you take down the big dog (sometimes repeatedly may be necessary) the others won't bother you.
There's no excuse for how big or small one's physical stature is. Here's the key:
Hit hard targets soft and soft targets hard.

Judgment was based as follows from my first post:
Maybe I came off a little harsh looking back, but come on, the tallest nail gets hammered down. I'm pretty sure this didn't happen without previous bragging or flashing off of the fact that his car is better than everyone elses.

Thanks, Thirteen. Glad to hear it.
As far as the bashing, it seems like i've gotten chewed out by at least one individual every time I try to share something with this forum. I don't know what it is; but, if it's because of that little "16" in the top corner of my posts, or my signature, GROW UP! As far as the car being mine, some people are more fortunate than others. After seven years out of high school, I would think that you would've already had this reality check. But, with that being said, I guess some are less mature than others as well.
