A worn seat is a sign of hard miles (lots of in-and-out activity by the driver translates to stop-and-go driving). With 3000 miles, that seat should be like new. Shop elsewhere - something's not right in Denmark.

Maybe the car was crashed and the seat was replaced with a used one, the car was used by someone at the dealership for back-and-forth trips to home (car never warmed up), etc.

The way deals on cars are right now, you can name your price on '08 Crossfires (more or less) and get one with delivery miles.

If the dealer won't do this for you at purchase when they still have a sale on the line, how are they going to treat you when they have nothing to lose? Generally you get your best service before you buy so it that service is not up to your standards, you sure aren't going to get good service AFTER the purchase...

Dear All
Many thanks for your advice. The good news is that when I arrived at the dealership this morning they had replaced the seat with one from a demonstrator which had only delivery miles on it. It looks great and I am really pleased with the car. All your comments were very helpful and I was resolved to bargain hard if they had not replaced it. I live in the UK and crossfires are quite rare where I live and there is really only the one dealership.
If I could ask for some more advice ........ I am hoping to put in a handsfree phone kit, has anyone any recommendation as to what one would be best for the crossfire, the dealership suggested a parrot one with a button to accept calls. Any ideas?
Many thanks to everyone who contributed.

There's a nice group of members here from the UK that have frequent meets. Make sure you make contact with them. I'm sure you will enjoy their company.

I like the Motorola one I had before - and now the one built into my stereo. You should get them to demostrate the Parrot for you to see if you like it.

Before you buy a parrot in England you had better check it is still working, what with Monty Python and all that.

Having had a couple of Bluetooth hands free devices myself, my suggestion would be that you purchase from a place that allows easy returns if necessary - and be prepared to try more than one. If you can, try the hands free device out with your particular phone at the store. I'm not listing a specific suggestion here because I've not found consistant answers depending on the phone, hands free device, and car environment (basically noise).

Obviously the most important consideration is that both sides of the conversation can hear each other well, including while you're driving on noisy roads and highways. All too often only one side of the conversation is in good shape. Second, your setup probably needs to work well for hands free dialing as well (as in: "Call Bob" or "Call work", or "Dial 555-1212").

Parrot, Motorola and BlueAnt all make devices that have reviewed well. And as more and more locales have required hands free - many new devices have come on the market within the past year, so you should have a good number of choices.

Lastly, some people just can't find a combination that works well for their circumstance. In that case, you might try a good noise canceling Bluetooth headset. The Jawbone 2 and the BlueAnt V1 come to mind - but there are many choices. And if that doesn't work for you, a wired headset is always an option too.

Where are you in the UK? You wil find all the info' you could wish for around here with several active UK members with 4 or 5 meets through the year.
The parrot is a good system and I know a few Xfire owners that use it,
check out the UK threads in here to get up to date with goings on and keep in touch!
Cheers, Steve

Thanks for this. I have contacted a mechanic and he is going to fit a parrot for me which he uses in his own car but he will make sure it links with my phone before he fits it. Thanks again for your good advice.

I was going to get the radio type but feel it would spoil the look of the car. Have found a good mechanic who is going to fit a parrot for me. Thanks for your advice.
