Default Wrecked Crossfire, Thank you drunk drivers.

Last night in Tulsa out on Sheridan at about 12:30am i pull up to a stoplight waiting for it to turn green..just as fast as i come to a complete stop a Tahoe doing 35-40mph slams into the back of my crossfire..my seatbelt didnt lock like i assume it should have and i was thrown into the steering wheel. The whole rear of my crossfire is destroyed..i had to climb out of my window to get out of the car because my door would not open.

The driver of the Tahoe couldnt have been 20 (im only 17) and she was too drunk to pass the police officers sobriety test, im almost positive she made no attempt to brake..she hit me hard enough to toss my crossfire half way into the lane next to me and slam into the car infront of me.

I spent roughly four hours in the ER, getting ex rays, etc..etc..No fracturs, no broken bones, no major injuries..just sore all over and ive had a throbbing head ache since i was at the ER which they said would go away in a day or two..currently on Lexapro and Loretabs for the next couple of days.

I was just wondering, does anybody think the insurance will total out my crossfire or just repair the damageS? the entire rear of my car was compacted..my trunk..oh god lol..I had a hat in my trunk and the hat somehow was on the pavement..Ill try and get pictures soon..i would have taken some at the time but i havnt been able to find my phone since the accident..i think it must have been tossed under one of the seats or something..somehow my hood popped open, it threw my car out of gear..hah it even threw the cupholder out onto the floorboard (always hated that cupholder)

Oh..and the drunk girl, didnt have an up to date insurance card on her..she may or may not have insurance all the cops said was that the card that she has was not up to date..does anyone know what to do about that situation?

Any advice or recommendations would be great...ive never been so sore in my entire life lol...but ive also never slammed myself into a steering wheel >.>

At current market values for Crossfires, I have little doubt it will be totalled based on what you have described. The repairs will probably exceed its value or close enough for them to total it..

Do you have uninsured motorist coverage? I sure hope so if she doesn't have any insurance.

Sorry to hear about your car. At least it stayed together enough to save your bacon. To be able to walk away after an accident like that says a lot about our cars. Hope you feel better and I hope they make her pay and take away her license.

Wow so sorry about your car and I'm glad you weren't badly hurt. You may want to contact a very good lawyer since you have a very strong case and you don;t want to wind up on the short end of this. Good luck with everything!

Hopefully you had unisnuserd motorist coverage. If I'm not mistaken it is a coverage you have to turn down. So if you did not turn it down, then you probably have it. Sorry for your grief, but the world can be a nasty place. Sounds like you made it ok which is a good thing. The car can be replaced. Good luck with your issue it really sucks.

As Mimi said, get yourself a very good lawyer, you may feel OK now, but in a few day all sorts of aches and pains will probably show up. Good Luck, and I'm glad you were well enough to tell us about what happened. But for future litigation purposes, you may want to stop posting anymore about what happened. The less info on the internet the better.

Hi Kezex

I feel for you man , God if that happened to our Xfire i think the police would have to pull the wife off the other driver .
Its almost like losing a family member or your best pet , I would go for a replacement Xfire as your damaged Xfire if repaired you will never feel the same about it again .

Just glad you are on the mend & you are able to talk/type about the crash .

Good luck

Cheers

Andy

Cars that seriously damaged are never quite the same after being repaired. I hope for your sake they do total it so you can find another. Sorry to hear about your injuries. I'm baffled by why your seat belt didn't restrain you.

So sorry to hear about the loss of the Crossfire. I'm glad though that you're ok, the car is just a piece of sheetmetal, and can be replaced.

having said that, I really wish people would stop advising people on getting an attorney before you even know if there is a problem. if there isn't I can guarantee you will have by the time you get out of their office. They will run you ragged going to dr appointments to build that case. You have two years to file suit in OK for personal injury and property damage, so you have plenty of time to find out if there is a residual injury or not. Take your time, figure out for yourself what's real, then deal with it.

as far as uninsured motorist coverage, that only applies to injury, so if you don't have a one except for minor stuff than it wouldn't apply anyway. You have medpay coverage and collision coverage for your own stuff if there is no insurance on the other car. It does sound as if the Cross is totalled, so I'd suggest you start looking for another car. You'll probably get a great deal on another one if that'swhat you want.

But in any event, I am really glad you were ok, in OK. Mark

Sorry for your loss, and glad to hear you were OK. Talk to your agent as soon as possible, then a lawyer. People without insurrance are one of my biggest fears out on the road, that's why I carry In-insured Motorist on my cars. Had to use it once when my wife got rear ended and the turkey left the scene.

Good Luck

A guy at a body shop recently told me about a repair they did when Crossfires first came out & people were paying sticker (or over).....the accident sounded just like yours.....they charged the insurance company $19,000 to fix it. So, since I just paid about $17K for a brand new 08.....gotta believe they'll total yours.

the same happened to my son and myself, glad you weren't hurt,, as far as the car if the insurance says totaled they want to keep it ,,, if you tell them it is a family airloom and you have to keep it. they have two ways pay you just under the totaled amount( my son's truck 99 Tocome prerunner was totaled ,,6788,00, if we took that they took the truck, i said it was a family airloom and we want it back,, they said if we took it after totaled it would be without a title and we could not reinsure it ,, so we were told to get a repair estament below the totaled amount. I knew the estermator at Toyota so we got a estsment for 5989, the insurance co sent us that and we fixed the truck and it is still insured,,, just u want to keep it and sell the parts.

You actually fit out the window? I'd need pain medication before I tried that. Oh to be young again...

Glad your OK.

I'm no ambulance chaser, nor conman. But as soon as Zekex mentioned that the drunks insurance papers weren't current, that's when the red flag went up.
If they don't have insurance, then yes his insurance will cover all his bills, except for his deductable which could be $500, 1000, or even $1500, and why should he have to pay that? It's true, his insurance Co. will go after her for ALL the damages, but he will only get his deductable back after she pays his insurance co. for all their expenses first.
My Daughter was rear ended in her car last February by a lady on a cell phone driving an SUV. She never got off her cell phone the whole time my daughter was there, and the Highway Patrol was giving her the ticket. Two months after the incident, she still hadn't heard from the "ladys" American Family Insurance, and my Daughters insurance said they would not respond to their repeated calls either. That's when I told her to get a lawyer, because she was injured and I was tired of her being ignored by American Family. Well here it is nearly a year later, and the only thing she's got from American Family so far is a check to pay the body shop, and she finally got that yesterday. They still haven't settled up with her for her personal injury's as of yet, and yes she's been going to a therapist the whole time and her back still isn't right. And she wasn't hit nearly as hard as Zekex was, so that's why I suggested that he get a lawyer, because no matter how young he is, there's a good chance he's going to be feeling it soon enough. Getting a lawyer involved from the get-go just might speed things up a little because some low-lifes think the longer they wait, some people will just say the heck with it and go away.

I'm the last person to suggest an attonrny but...
If the other driver's insurance is out, get one immediately.

Otherwise let your insurance company do what you paid them to do.

And if you didn't pay them for more than a basic policy, that's what you can expect back, lawyer or no lawyer.

Sorry for your troubles pal. Hope you get a new, new one for your pain.

Sorry to hear of the wreck. As all have said it's good that you were able to walk away from it (well, maybe limp). I'm pretty sure they will write it off as a total loss because yo can get some good deals if you look and are patient.

Good luck and when you start looking, don't forget to check in here first. You may find what your looking for.
